00:00 People are pretty clear about where we stand on this issue of channel crossings and the
00:05 totally unacceptable nature of it, the exorbitant costs that we're spending in responding to
00:10 it, as well as the real jeopardy that people are in when they get in a small boat and cross
00:14 the channel.
00:15 I don't think that they feel that the Labour Party has a credible position in relation
00:20 to this.
00:21 It isn't good enough just to say that there's a problem and then try and glide under the
00:25 radar into office without coming forward with a credible alternative plan.
00:30 I'd be delighted to hear alternative suggestions from politicians about what they would do,
00:35 but I don't think that it's good enough to turn around and say we won't support this,
00:38 but we're not going to be clear about what we do support and what we would do.
00:41 But I am aware that there were a number of graphics that were put out yesterday that
00:46 sort of highlighted this point.
00:47 I know that colleagues have made views known about that and I'm sure that the party chairman
00:51 and central office will reflect on that feedback.
