00:00 Two women recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize, journalist Maria Reza of the Philippines and
00:06 human rights activist Tawakol Karman of Yemen, meet Pope Francis to present a landmark declaration
00:11 on human fraternity.
00:13 Italian physicist Giorgio Parisi, who won the Nobel Prize in physics, also joins Reza
00:18 and Karman in meeting the Pope.
00:20 The Declaration on Human Fraternity, prepared by 30 Nobel Peace Prize laureates, appeals
00:24 for closer brotherhood and sisterhood, to prevent war, sexual violence, forced migration,
00:29 and the manipulation of artificial intelligence.
00:32 The Nobel laureates were supposed to present the declaration to Pope Francis in June, but
00:36 the pontiff was still confined in the hospital.
00:39 Reza says the meeting with Francis gave her hope.
00:43 She adds there is no better time to present the declaration to the Pope than today, when
00:47 everything we value is at risk.
