Wild weather is predicted to impact the Illawarra and South Coast from Tuesday evening and into Wednesday. Video by Adam McLean

00:00 going to see that localised rainfall move across to the east and we are

00:04 concerned about the potential for localised heavy rainfall in excess of

00:07 200 millimetres, particularly in the areas around the lower south coast of

00:11 Moorooya. However there will also be rain bands moving across the rest of

00:16 New South Wales, contracting to the north as well. So over the next 24 to 36 hours

00:20 we're looking at sustained heavy rainfalls across the state and localised

00:24 areas of in excess of 100 and in some areas in excess of 200 millimetres. As I

00:29 mentioned there is the potential for riverine and flash flooding and I could

00:32 encourage the community at large to refrain from travelling if they're in

00:35 heavy rainfall areas, to look at the warnings on our SES website ses.nsw.gov.au

00:41 We currently have warning products out for 11 areas across New

00:45 South Wales. Yes it's pre-positioned aviation assets and heavy vehicles and

00:49 high clearance vehicles to the areas we're most concerned about, as well as

00:52 that we have flood rescue teams and storm technicians pre-positioning ahead

00:56 of the forecast fronts. The most important thing we can do though is to

00:59 avoid travel in those areas where we can, because the best rescue we do is the one

01:03 we don't have to do because the community is making really sensible

01:06 decisions.
