A week before world leaders meet for the COP28 climate summit in Dubai, Canada and the EU have committed to more environmental pledges.

00:00 A week before world leaders meet for the COP28 climate summit in Dubai,
00:04 Canada's hosted EU leaders for a summit in Newfoundland.
00:08 Whilst there, they signed up to the Green Alliance,
00:10 a package of environmental pledges to limit climate change to one and a half degrees.
00:15 On green issues, we've been aligned for so long with the European Union
00:21 in knowing that the economy and the environment don't just have to go together,
00:27 they do go together.
00:29 [Applause]
00:32 There's a lot of consequences for our societies and climate change requires innovation.
00:38 So I will strengthen our ambition to work together, to innovate, to develop more technologies,
00:45 to resolve those difficulties and those challenges together.
00:49 They've agreed to expand carbon pricing, which is a climate change tax,
00:53 to 60% of global emissions by 2030.
