This modest bed and breakfast in Scarborough has been voted the world’s best B&B three-years-running, our reporter Sophie Mei Lan Malin went to find out why.

00:00 So tell me what it's like running the world's best B&B for the third year running.

00:06 It's been an amazing experience for us and it's an amazing thing that has happened to win best B&B in the world.

00:13 But it's down to the guests that come and visit us. They love what we do, they love what we have to offer. It's just fabulous.

00:20 It's great fun, but it's hard work.

00:23 What did it feel like when you were first crowned three years ago the best B&B in the world?

00:29 To be fair, when we first got the phone call we were driving back from York and we didn't believe it.

00:33 We thought somebody was playing a prank and we still for about 10 minutes thought they were playing a prank

00:37 until they sent us an email which pinged on my watch while I was driving and I was like, oh my goodness, it's true.

00:42 Because you just, putting it in perspective, we're just an ordinary B&B in Scarborough

00:47 and it's just an amazing thing that we can win best B&B in the world.

00:51 We're competing with all these other B&Bs that are fabulous places, but it's down to value for money as well.

00:57 And that's what our point is really, isn't it?

01:01 Value for money, friendly, happy, nice environment, good breakfast, clean rooms, trying to get it all right.

01:09 And what do you think some of your secrets are? Ben, you've obviously got those good old values.

01:18 So James is our in-house entertainment.

01:24 James likes to sing all the time, practically. He just sings all the time.

01:31 And the guests love it and the guests join in.

01:35 And he doesn't always have the same choice of songs.

01:39 If Madness are playing down at the Open Air Theatre, we'll have Madness songs playing in the morning.

01:44 Or if Kylie Minogue is down at the Open Air Theatre, we'll have Kylie Minogue songs in the morning.
