00:20 Once upon a time, in sunny Spain, there was a little boy named Ferdinando.

00:29 All the other kids he lived with ran and jumped, giving him a good beating.

00:34 But not like this, Ferdinando.

00:37 He had his favorite corner out of the grass, under a tree.

00:42 He sat quietly under his shadow all day and smelled the flowers.

00:49 Sometimes his mother, who was a cow, was worried about him.

00:54 She was afraid he was alone and helpless.

00:58 "Hey, Ferdinando, why don't you play with the other kids for a while,

01:03 and give them a good beating?"

01:05 But Ferdinando shook his head.

01:08 "I'd rather stay here, where I can be calm and smell the flowers."

01:16 And as he was a very understanding mother, even though he was a cow,

01:21 he let him sit there and be happy.

01:27 Years passed, and Ferdinando grew and grew and grew,

01:32 until he became a big and strong bull.

01:36 The other bulls wanted to be selected for the races held in Madrid.

01:50 One day, five men arrived with funny hats to take the biggest,

05:05 He cut his sword, kicked it, and pulled his hair.

05:16 The killer begged him, "Please, please, do something! Do something! Come on, attack me!"

05:32 "I'm a bastard! I couldn't even use my capote or my sword! Oh, my mother!"

05:43 So they took Ferdinando back to the field.

05:50 And so he continues, sitting quietly under his favorite alcornoque, smelling the flowers, and being very happy.
