President Biden Signs Short-Term Funding Bill, Averting Government Shutdown
  • 5 months ago
President Biden signed a short-term government funding bill on November 17th, 2023 to avoid a government shutdown. The bill funds the government through January 19th for some agencies and February 2nd for others. The bill passed the Senate 87-11 and the House with near-unanimous Democratic support and around half of Republicans opposing it. The bill funds government agencies at their current spending levels. It does not include any policy riders or conditions wanted by far-right Republicans around issues like climate change funding or diversity programs. The bill did not include additional aid packages for Ukraine or Israel that some had sought.
