Month of European Film takes place in more than 70 theatres across the region

For the next month, more than 70 theatres will showcase films to highlight and celebrate the diversity of Europe's cinema.

00:11 From Athens to Bucharest and small towns and large film capitals, theaters are going to

00:15 be hosting special events and presenting programs.

00:19 One of the art venues taking part is the legendary Camoidia in Lyon.

00:23 "In this month of European cinema, we have chosen to participate in this month that will

00:30 celebrate the diversity of European cinema.

00:34 We have planned several events, one of which is the Royal MacKenzie Day, because it is

00:39 very important for us to be able to show European film adaptations.

00:44 And then we have planned the film "Captain" by Matteo Garone, a preview."

00:53 Animated films, documentaries and dramas are all on the big screen.

00:58 One of the movies is "Kensuka's Kingdom", a co-production between the UK and France.

01:05 Its hero is 11-year-old Mikkel, who is shipwrecked on a deserted island that turns out not to

01:10 be as lonely as he originally thought.

01:12 The event is backed by Europa Cinemas, a network supporting European films all year round.

01:18 "The Camoidia cinema is a part of Europa Cinemas.

01:21 We are committed to broadcast more than 20% of European films, so non-nationals, during

01:28 the year.

01:29 And we are committed to it because it allows us to offer a great diversity of cinema to

01:34 our audience, always with the idea of revealing a cinema that we do not always have on the

01:41 screens."

01:42 Some 37 countries, 750 towns and 1,200 cinemas are part of the group.

01:53 Another film being shown is "Me, Captain", the story of two boys trying to get to Europe.

01:59 Month of European film runs until December 9th, marking the start of the European Film

02:05 Awards.
