On Nov. 13, Nepal's government banned TikTok
because it believes the popular social media app is
disrupting the country's "social harmony," NPR reports. .
The decision will go into effect
immediately, Foreign Minister
Narayan Prakash Saud said.
The government has decided to ban
TikTok as it was necessary to regulate
the use of the social media platform
that was disrupting social harmony,

Saud said that the government previously
asked social media "companies to register and
open a liaison office in Nepal," NPR reports.

refused Nepal's requests.
The country's decision comes as the social media platform has faced scrutiny in several countries.
The U.S., Britain and New Zealand have
banned government employees from

TikTok has denied sharing data and claims
