Raphaël Carlot's Fatal Crash @ Rallye Besançon 1993 (Aftermath)

Rallye de Besançon, held on 20 March 1993, was marred by a fatal accident during a second special stage on the night of the race day. Green and yellow Citroën AX Sport #21 of Thierry Bondivena - Raphaël Carlot crashed into woods and Carlot, 20, was killed as the result of the crash.

Due to a fatal accident, the second special stage was cancelled and the rally, held in Doubs department, in eastern France, was stopped for about half an hour after the accident but then racing resumed.

The Rallye de Besançon was the third round of the French Regional Rally Criterium of that year. Winners of the rally were François Grandjean, co-driven by Yvan Mauffrey in a BMW M3 E30, at their second consecutive win in the season after winning the Rallye National du Lodévois on 14 March 1993.
