00:00 Are you ready? I'm gonna press it.
00:02 - Merry Christmas. - Merry Christmas.
00:04 - Here we go. - Merry Christmas.
00:06 Merry Christmas.
00:08 The story is about Adam.
00:10 He lives in an apartment block in London.
00:12 He's kind of locked himself away from the world.
00:15 He has stopped living in any kind of productive way.
00:18 And one night, he meets Harry.
00:22 I saw you looking at me from the street.
00:24 I've seen you a bunch of times coming and going with your head down.
00:27 Adam and Harry, I think their kind of loneliness mirrors each other.
00:32 They both feel very isolated.
00:34 This is mum and dad.
00:36 They died just before I was 12.
00:39 I can't even begin to imagine how lonely you must have been.
00:42 Adam decides to go back to his childhood home,
00:45 and he comes across his parents.
00:48 And he sees them as they looked when they died,
00:51 so they are now younger than he is.
00:53 - Hi. - Hi.
00:55 I love that idea of basically meeting your parents again.
00:59 - Our boy's back home. - Hmm.
01:01 - This is real. - Does it feel real?
01:05 - Yeah. - There you go, then.
01:08 Everybody can relate to that idea of wanting to go back
01:14 and to redefine what your relationship with your parents was.
01:18 It's about two different forms of love,
01:20 sort of familiar love and a kind of romantic adult love,
01:23 and how those two things affect each other.
01:25 - Have you got a girlfriend? - I'm gay.
01:28 I must admit, I'm a bit surprised.
01:30 Not really sure what I feel about it.
01:32 His parents weren't angels.
01:34 They were real people who, if they were living now,
01:37 would be much older and have certain values and beliefs,
01:39 so they have to sort of evolve as the film evolves.
01:42 Sorry I never came in your room when you were crying.
01:44 No, really, it's OK. Dad, I get it. It was so long.
01:47 - It was so long ago. - Oh.
01:50 In many ways, the film is about how you integrate pain into your life.
01:55 You have to find a way to move on and not let it ruin other relationships.
01:59 Thinking about who you all eat today,
02:01 thinking about watching crappy TV with you on a Friday night,
02:04 eating take-away and soft-serve.
02:07 I want to go after you and me together into the world.
02:11 It's such a lovely concept, having the opportunity
02:15 to get to correct the mistakes that you might have made.
02:18 Can I hug you now?
02:20 You all right, son?
02:22 While it is personal, I think the story is entirely universal.
02:27 You promised me that you were going to try with this Harry boy.
02:30 I hope you make each other a bit happier.
02:33 The story is incredibly moving.
02:36 I'm just every day struck by how heartbreaking and beautiful a story it is.
02:40 I was too scared to let you in.
02:43 But I'm here with you.
