Bonfire night memories

We asked people on the streets of Edinburgh for their memories of bonfire night.

00:00 Bonfire night, again, great big fire at the bottom of the street, guy forks, lots and

00:07 lots of wood and tatties in the fire.

00:10 Bonfire night is actually my brother's birthday, so yeah, celebrating my brother's birthday,

00:15 I always do something every year.

00:17 I think, yeah, bonfire night's not really anything, like, I guess all I can think of

00:24 is what my dad used to tell me, like, growing up in Edinburgh when they would, like, set

00:28 a fire to, like, old chairs and tables in the middle of the street and then they'd all

00:32 get chased off by the fire department and that's probably, like, his memory living through

00:36 me, so yeah.

00:38 On a bad note, because of the area I live in, a couple of years ago there was all cars

00:44 getting stolen, set on fire, and I think there was about 20 arrests, including a policeman

00:52 getting injured.

00:53 Any happier memories?

00:54 Again, as a kid, going round the bonfires and going to Middlebank Sports Centre for

01:01 the firework display.
