US does not back Israel-Hamas ceasefire 'at this time'

The White House opposes a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict and suggests considering ‘pauses’ for delivering aid to Gaza instead. Israel launched a military operation against Hamas after a series of attacks, causing significant casualties, and the United Nations has repeatedly called for a humanitarian truce amid the ongoing violence in Gaza.

00:00 We do not believe that a ceasefire is the right answer right now. We believe
00:08 that a ceasefire right now benefits Hamas and Hamas is the only one that
00:13 would gain from that right now as Israel continues to prosecute their
00:19 operations against Hamas leadership. What we have said should be considered and
00:24 explored are temporary localized humanitarian pauses to allow aid to get
00:29 to specific populations and maybe even to help with the evacuation of people
00:33 that want to get out move more to the south. We do support that. We do not
00:36 support a ceasefire at this time.
