Karel Švec's Fatal Crash @ Rallye Posázaví 2009 (Aftermath)

Czech rally driver Karel Švec, aged 45 was killed in an accident which occurred during the first special stage of the Rallye Posázaví, a round of the 2009 Czech Rally Open Cup. It happened at about 12h00 on Saturday, 30 May 2009, near the small village of Suchá, Havlíčkův Brod, about 100 kilometers southeast of the Czech capital. The driver lost control of his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX that went off the road and crashed hard into a tree on the right side. He was killed at the scene, his co-driver Vlastimil Hladík, 42, was seriously injured; no spectators were involved in the crash.

After the accident the stage was immediately stopped and the event was abandoned. This was the first fatality in twelve editions of the Rallye Posázaví.
