Courts to consider history of family violence in custody disputes

When examining a child's best interests courts will soon have to consider a history of family violence. It's part of a suite of changes passed by the federal government last week and has been welcomed by victim-survivors and advocates against family violence. The presumption of parents having equal shared responsibility for children will also be scrapped.
