Opening of Wendy's in Peterborough

The eagerly awaited opening of fast food chain Wendy's at Bourges View, Maskew Avenue, Peterborough.

00:00 Peterborough's eagerly anticipated Wendy's fast food drive-thru and restaurant will open at 7am on Saturday October 21st.

00:08 Queues of enthusiasts of the American fast food chain are expected to start gathering from 5am according to Carl Morris,

00:15 managing director of Blank Table, which is the franchise operator for Wendy's in East Anglia.

00:20 And he says that for the first 50 customers through the doors there's a free t-shirt.

00:25 But it's not just the chance to eat in Wendy's that is causing so much excitement. It seems lots of us want to work there as well.

00:32 Mr Morris said that for just 50 jobs at Wendy's in Peterborough he received more than 500 applications.

00:40 No wonder the team are so delighted to be part of the Wendy's family.

00:48 As Sir Mohammed, district manager for Blank Table, explained.

00:52 We hired 50 people, 50 really good candidates and we don't have any problem hiring people.

00:58 We had more than 550 CVs to go through. But the people we chose here, they are really good. Really, really good, reliable, really good people.
