00:00 The dumb blonde character was so successful and so lovable that I was reluctant to give
00:05 up any part of that at all.
00:07 Maybe he's a burglar!
00:08 Oh sure, he came in to steal the bath tub and fell asleep on the job.
00:13 I really wanted to continue with that which seemed to please the audience because it is
00:19 all about those people at home who turn on the set.
00:24 What about Suzanne?
00:25 How do you feel being stereotyped as the dumb blonde?
00:28 I don't know so much if I am, but I think people are aware of the fact that Suzanne
00:32 Summers plays a dumb blonde character.
00:35 I hope they know I play it well.
00:37 They probably do because so many people believe that's who I really was or am or will be.
00:44 I'm so glad I did that show.
00:46 It made me, it gave me everything.
00:49 It was the chance that everyone hopes to get.
00:52 Well, you've got to get out of those clothes!
00:55 I thought you'd never ask!
00:58 Do you think you're taken seriously as a comedian?
01:00 I think the public takes me seriously as a comedian.
01:05 I will always feel in part successful for Three's Company.
01:11 I share their success with them right now.
01:13 I was there in the beginning and I feel that the public took me seriously.
01:18 I don't know if the press always does, but I take myself seriously as a comedian.
01:22 You can't help yourself, Prissy.
01:24 So, I'm afraid you know what the answer's got to be.
01:28 Yeah, you'll have to be strong enough for both of us.
01:34 How would you like people to think of Suzanne Summers?
01:37 Well, I would like them to know that I'm multidimensional.
01:42 Where I want to go is not so much in terms of projects.
01:45 I want to work with the best people.
01:47 I think that is the luxury that comes with achieving any success or fame.
01:56 The more success you achieve, the better quality of people you get to work with.
02:01 So, therefore, I guess I would like to work with all the best directors.
02:04 And obviously, if I'm working with the best directors, I will be working with the best
02:08 material.
02:10 My interests are very musical.
02:13 I really enjoy entertaining in a good old-fashioned way.
02:19 One of the most rewarding things was the response.
02:21 They loved it.
02:22 They loved the show.
02:24 And they kept feeding me.
02:26 So, the more they would feed me with their appreciation, the more I was able to give
02:30 back to them.
02:31 A real nice exchange.
02:32 Come in the kitchen and show me what you've got.
02:38 All I want to do is work.
02:39 All I want to do is make you feel good.
02:41 It really is as simple as that.
02:42 I'm positive about myself and what I'm doing.
02:46 And if I never achieve anything more than I've achieved right now, I'll be happy.
02:51 I'm a gardener's daughter from San Bruno, California.
02:54 And I never dreamed I'd get this far.
02:56 I just would like people to enjoy me.
02:58 That's why I'm doing it.
02:59 Whatever happened to the sexual revolution?
03:02 Your side lost.
03:03 Do you really mean it, though, when you say that if you could never work again in Hollywood
03:10 that you'd be happy?
03:11 I don't believe I would ever allow that to happen.
03:13 I'm a survivor and an achiever.
03:17 And I just, no matter what happens, I'll pick myself up and keep on going.
03:24 And I'm quite lucky because I have a very solid personal life.
03:29 So that, therefore, when things are not going well in my career, which no career can be
03:34 consistent all the time.
03:35 No career.
03:36 So you have to be confident enough and have a strong personal life.
03:40 I would never compare myself to anybody.
03:42 I am uniquely myself.
03:44 Whether you like that or whether you don't like that, I am uniquely myself.
03:49 And whatever I achieve in terms of comedy and my career will be uniquely my way, not
03:57 the way anyone else has done it.
