00:00 You see running back Corey Kiner joining me, Russ Eltman,
00:03 all Bearcats reporter here on Talking Caps with Russ Eltman.
00:07 Corey, what do you think has been kind of just the toughest part for
00:12 the run game over the past four outings?
00:13 What do you think has kind of, in terms of running back wise,
00:16 you guys have hit a little bit of a wall.
00:17 What do you think's the biggest part of that?
00:19 >> We just gotta stay consistent.
00:21 We'll have a decent run and then we'll get stopped.
00:24 Then we'll have a decent run and we'll get stopped.
00:26 We just gotta stay consistent, keep working hard.
00:28 Just keep doing what we wanna do.
00:31 >> You're hitting holes hard.
00:33 You got a career high in attempts already.
00:35 We're already halfway through the season.
00:37 How are you gauging your conditioning?
00:39 How are you feeling like your stamina's holding up as you've kind of taken on
00:42 that bell cow role in this backfield?
00:44 >> I'm good.
00:44 I can take more.
00:47 >> What do you think is the biggest reason why you feel so good?
00:50 Is it just your offseason preparation,
00:51 the way you've kind of taken care of yourself this season?
00:54 What do you think?
00:55 >> I had a different approach to this offseason than I had any other offseason.
00:58 So I felt like this is what I wanted to do this season.
01:01 And I just- >> What was it that you changed in
01:04 the offseason?
01:05 >> I just, I didn't take a vacation.
01:07 I didn't take a vacation for spring break.
01:10 I didn't take a summer break vacation.
01:12 Every free day we got, I went train with my trainer.
01:16 Every day, off day we got, during lifting and stuff like that,
01:19 I came in the training room, did extra stuff.
01:21 >> Awesome, love it.
01:22 Biggest thing you're focusing on in a week to week mentality,
01:26 or obviously you guys are trying to be 1-0 each week, trying to just get a home win,
01:30 get some momentum going.
01:31 For you personally, what's the biggest thing you work on during the tough weeks and
01:35 the great weeks?
01:36 What's the things you focus on?
01:37 >> Winning each rep in practice.
01:38 I think a lot of people overlook things like that.
01:41 And they get so worried about, we gotta get ready for Saturday.
01:45 But you get ready for Saturday by winning each rep in practice.
01:48 Running back individual, going against your teammates,
01:50 going against scout teams, you just gotta win each rep.
01:52 >> Got it.
01:53 Easiest part of learning the scheme, you guys are halfway through the season.
01:57 I feel like you have it down pretty well by now.
01:59 What's been the easiest part of learning the scheme so far?
02:02 >> It hasn't really been easy, but I guess my teammates make it easier.
02:06 >> As well. >> Because we are better framing what's come
02:08 to you, what's come and
02:10 been kind of the thing that's by osmosis trickled into your game the easiest?
02:16 >> I mean, I guess the running game.
02:17 I guess, cuz, dude, I get, they just tell you.
02:21 >> Right.
02:22 >> You run it, I mean, the running game has been the easiest for my team.
02:26 >> With different schemes, I'm just kind of curious,
02:27 the pass blocking aspect of it.
02:29 Does the language and stuff change a lot with different schemes?
02:32 Like, would the language change a lot for
02:33 you guys in terms of your pass blocking commitment?
02:35 >> Yeah, I mean, with each scheme that I've been in,
02:37 the language has changed a lot.
02:39 But it's really overall the same thing, right?
02:42 It's just, it changes a little bit, but it's the same thing.
02:45 >> Gotta put a hat on a hat.
02:46 >> Yeah, yes sir.
02:48 >> And then, what's kind of been the most difficult part for
02:50 you to get nailed down from the scheme?
02:52 >> Pass concepts.
02:53 Pass concepts are always the most difficult because the formation
02:57 could change the whole pass concept.
02:58 It's a lot that goes into it.
03:01 >> And then, your favorite part of practice,
03:03 I don't think I've asked a running back this, but
03:05 what's your favorite drill outside of team?
03:07 Cuz a lot of guys tell me team, but what's your favorite running back specific drill?
03:10 >> Routes on air.
03:11 >> Routes on air?
03:12 >> Yeah, I just like running routes, catching the ball.
03:15 My goal is not drop a ball ever, so.
03:18 >> Working on the pass game and stuff?
03:19 >> Yeah, yes sir.
03:20 >> There you go.
03:20 >> You see running back.
