With some Leeds schools breaking up for October half-term, from the 23rd of October, most
00:06
are off between Monday 30th through to Sunday 5th of November, which is the week we're focusing
00:11
on now in your Leeds October half-term guide.
00:15
The Leeds Museums and Galleries venues have a wide range of events for all the family,
00:20
from a Spooky Skeletons Trail at Lotherton, a Shadow Seekers Trail at Leeds City Museum,
00:26
and Halloween Cellar Tours at Temple Newsome. You can also create your own Halloween hat
00:30
at the Leeds Discovery Centre, or code a robot at the Leeds Industrial Museum. Full details
00:37
and times are online.
00:41
The Hunslet Club is a not-for-profit youth organisation and charity, and their October
00:46
half-term activity camp promises a week of fun, food and friends, with activities including
00:51
creative arts and crafts, football, baking, dancing, rugby and more. Full details can
00:58
be found by searching for 'The Hunslet Club'.
01:03
The M&S Archive has launched a new Autumn Exhibition trail based at the Michael Marks
01:08
Building at the University of Leeds. You can be fairly confident that Percy Pig will pop
01:13
up at some point, and you can drop in for free between 10am and 4pm, between the 30th
01:19
of October and 3rd of November.
01:25
The Harewood Estate is hosting a bewitching adventure of folklore and fairy tales where
01:29
you can explore the woodland around Harewood House this half-term. The house itself has
01:34
closed as it prepares for Christmas, but there will be a sculpture trail, potion making workshop
01:39
and more workshops throughout half-term, with full details online.
01:47
Sunnybank Mills are hosting a half-term textile workshop called 'Mini Makers' on Tuesday
01:52
the 31st of October from 10am. It's for ages 10 and up, or there's a session for ages 6
01:59
and up on Wednesday the 1st of November. Or what about weaving? Full details of all of
02:05
their sessions can be found by searching 'Sunnybank Mills'.
02:14
The Royal Armouries is home to pirates and highwaymen this half-term, where you'll be
02:19
able to hear some adventure stories and enjoy lots of live combat alongside fun activities
02:24
to keep the kids out of mischief. There'll also be no daylight robbery as admission to
02:29
the museum is free, but pre-booking is advised to guarantee entry.
02:37
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at surgery? The Thackray Museum of Medicine is bringing
02:42
back its series of hands-on experiences for families this half-term, with heart dissecting
02:48
sessions for those aged 7 or over, with adult supervision. You can search 'Thackray Museum
02:54
of Medicine' for full details and whatever you get up to, have a happy half-term.
