00:00 Hello everyone I am Amina Ansari and you are watching SJAB News English.
00:04 There is again a new report on Adani Group alleging that the group imported billions
00:10 of dollars of coal priced above the market rate.
00:14 And Senior Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday has asked the Prime Minister Narendra
00:18 Modi to order a probe into reports on Adani.
00:21 A report had appeared in Financial Times which alleged that Adani Group, India's largest
00:27 private coal importer, has been inflating the fuel price which is causing millions of
00:32 Indian consumers to overpay for electricity.
00:36 The Financial Times had reviewed the custom records which showed that Adani Group used
00:41 foreign intermediaries in Taiwan, Dubai and Singapore to import $5 billion worth of coal
00:47 at prices that were times more than double the market price.
00:52 Financial Times also reported that one of these companies is owned by a Taiwanese businessman
00:57 who was recently named as a hidden shareholder in Adani companies by FT.
01:03 This allegation on Adani Group was made seven years ago when there was a probe by the Directorate
01:09 of Revenue Intelligence.
01:12 Adani Group has denied the allegations.
01:14 It said that the Financial Times report is based on old baseless allegations and the
01:19 report is a clever recycling and selective misrepresentation of publicly available facts
01:25 and information.
01:26 Well, few months back, Hindenburg Research had accused Adani of stock manipulation and
01:32 accounting fraud.
01:33 The case on this is still going on in the Supreme Court of India.
01:38 Hindenburg Research has brought a Chinese anger in its report on Adani Group.
01:43 Hindenburg had pointed out that the Adani Group has not clarified its relationship with
01:48 the Chinese national Changchun Link despite a plethora of linkage.
01:53 Hindenburg had asked about the nature of Changchun Link's relationship with Adani Group.
01:58 Now, after this latest report on mystery of coal imports by Adani Group, the opposition
02:03 party is questioning PM Modi to order a probe into a case.
02:07 The PM is still silent on it.
02:10 The Prime Minister has still not made any official or direct statement on the Adani-Hindenburg
02:15 report.
02:16 Amidst all the allegations that Modi and Adani are one team.
02:19 Also, there is a special term which the opposition uses to refer to Modi-Adani relation.
02:25 Why this silence from our Prime Minister?
02:28 Shouldn't he be answering the opposition parties who are questioning him on his relations
02:32 to Adani and put this matter to rest?
02:36 That's all for this news report.
