Protests erupt across Middle East after blast at Gaza hospital ‘kills 500’

People took to the streets in multiple Arab cities to demonstrate against the death of Palestinians at a hospital in Gaza.The blast al-Arabi hospital on Tuesday night has killed more than 500 people who were wounded or seeking shelter, it has been estimated.Hamas has blamed an Israeli airstrike, but the Israeli military claims the site was hit with a rocket launched by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group – it also denies involvement.It seems much of the Middle East is holding Israel responsible, with Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah calling for “a day of unprecedented anger”.Hundreds gathered outside the US embassy near the Lebanese capital of Beirut, throwing stones and setting a nearby building on fire while chanting “death to America” and “death to Israel” before they were dispersed with tear gas, the AFP news agency reported.Protesters also assembled at the French embassy, holding up Hezbollah flags and chucking stones at the main entrance.
