00:00 Hey Jack man, listen guys don't make this tacky.
00:03 Nobody call Wolverine Wolverine right now you feel that I think so.
00:08 Does Wolverine hurt a little every time.
00:11 Welcome back everyone it's Charlie this will be my full Rick and Morty season 7 episode
00:15 one video there a whole bunch of Easter eggs references celebrity cameos like Hugh Jackman
00:19 with a whole bunch of Wolverine jokes.
00:21 So will break it all down.
00:22 I know this also a bunch of questions about what happened with Justin Roiland being fired
00:26 by the show in the new voice actors for Rick and Morty.
00:29 It is definitely the elephant in the room, but I feel like they actually did probably
00:32 about as good a job is finding soundalikes is they possibly could.
00:36 So I will address that in a second.
00:38 It is going to be a little bit weird watching the show for a while.
00:42 If you're brand-new to the channel be sure to subscribe to get all the episodes is actually
00:45 a bunch of banger animated shows coming up later this year like invincible season 2 is
00:50 happening I'll be doing episode videos for that as well careful for spoilers if you haven't
00:54 seen the episode yet, but just starting with that elephant in the room.
00:58 The new voice actors playing Rick and Morty are Ian Cardoni who's playing Rick and all
01:02 the other Rick related characters like the ricks from different universes like Rick prime
01:06 Harry Belden is the new voice actor playing Morty in all the other Morty's in some of
01:11 the characters that Justin also voice like Justin voice a lot of different characters
01:14 on the show.
01:15 So they might divide some of those other characters between these two new voice actors can synthesize
01:20 coffee don't need to make excuses.
01:22 Yeah, I didn't even bring a cup.
01:24 I will say just after watching this first episode I haven't seen any the other episodes
01:28 yet but the Morty voice actor sounds exactly like Morty he even kind of looks like a grown-up
01:33 version of Morty not to make fun of her anything like that.
01:35 This actually looks like a real-life version of Morty the voice actor for Rick doesn't
01:39 sound exactly like Rick is a little bit different.
01:41 You can pick up on it.
01:42 If you've been watching the show since season one really carefully, but if you only been
01:45 loosely watching the show you might not notice it that much generally it didn't bother me
01:49 of it in a pretty decent job given everything this happened.
01:52 I'm not can speak too much on the Justin Roiland of it all that all kind of going down the
01:57 background for the most part Dan Harmon also did a much bigger interview addressing all
02:01 that stuff and basically confirmed what a lot of the reports were saying what happened
02:05 behind the scenes at Rick and Morty the drama between him and Justin after season two Dan
02:10 Harmon basically confirmed that Justin had not been involved with the show creatively
02:14 since after season two like he basically checked out and which is coming into the voiceover
02:18 roles.
02:19 So generally starting with season three the show has completely been Dan Harmon's creative
02:23 vision and even though they don't reference it in this episode.
02:26 There is a Rick and Morty movie that they're also working on.
02:29 I don't know when it's going to happen, but Dan Harmon also said that Zack Snyder called
02:32 him into his office at Warner Brothers to see if he could try to help him get the Rick
02:36 and Morty movie made because apparently Zack Snyder is a Rick and Morty fanboy Dan Harmon
02:41 basically explained that a Rick and Morty movie would be just like South Park bigger
02:45 longer and uncut like a completely separate standalone adventure maybe loosely referencing
02:49 some canonical stuff, but the actual episode title episode one was called how Poopy got
02:54 his poop back which is a reference to the movie how Stella got her groove back in Rick
02:57 helping PB clean up his life as he's basically hit rock bottom again during the episode.
03:02 They also reference all the events of his past which are basically the events of all
03:06 the different post credit scenes from different seasons like sometimes he's up sometimes he's
03:09 down and this time he is very down the last time we saw him Rick got him fired from his
03:14 professor job and that's what got him off the wagon again in in this downward spiral
03:19 where you find him here in their living room.
03:21 That's basically what the cold open is like finding him in their living room where he's
03:24 been living for a while now space Beth is hanging out with the family again it seems
03:28 like she's been with them on the regular for couple seasons now she's probably still in
03:32 that weird relationship with Beth is not anything that Rick or the other characters haven't
03:35 gotten up to select it's normal for the Rick and Morty universe and the whole idea is that
03:39 she's cut from the same cloth as regular she's meant to be just like Rick.
03:43 So anything that Rick is done Beth is also probably either going to do or has done already
03:47 the other funny thing to is it since all the space Beth and Beth relationship has been
03:51 happening that's basically what they're doing on the Loki series in the marvel universe
03:55 like Loki trying to get busy with another version of himself from another universe Jerry
04:00 still using a Tevo if you're too young to remember what Tevo is is basically a special
04:04 DVR the people used to record broadcast TV shows before the age of streaming became a
04:09 thing in his defense Jerry acknowledges that it is an antique let me know in the comments
04:14 if you still have a Tevo inside your house somewhere.
04:16 Even if you don't use it PB's dealer also tries to sell Rick and Morty some Ritalin
04:20 that's why she asked if they have trouble focusing in the whole idea here is that they're
04:23 mad at Rick because has been putting off having an intervention for poopy butthole the episode
04:28 is all about getting over your own demons dealing with your past in the irony is is
04:32 Rick has all those problems he can't get over his past is also just as lousy a drunk as
04:37 PB is pretty much all their friend group is zoom in and hands around the living room.
04:41 There's a custody law for dummies book because he lost his son when his wife left him and
04:45 he fell off the wagon the bathrobe he's wearing seems like it belongs to Morty because it
04:49 has the M on it and are about the same size.
04:51 Then he has best help hanging himself and it makes fun of her for being too poor or
04:56 too lazy to actually get a fan breaks the fourth wall again.
04:59 He's one of the few characters like Rick who break the fourth wall all the time he even
05:02 breaks the fifth wall later in the episode.
05:05 Then when he's recapping the events of all of his post credit scenes all the bad things
05:08 that have happened to him.
05:09 He recounts Beth shooting him which he still traumatized by and apparently since the last
05:14 time we saw him he's tried and failed to pass the bar exam that's the exam in the United
05:18 States that you try to pass to become a lawyer.
05:21 There's an entire cabinet of booze under the TV.
05:23 I think that's meant to belong to Beth or Rick or maybe both of them because it like
05:27 the only two people in the family that are lousy drunks their whole bunch new intro scenes
05:31 summer picking Rick up being super strong to not quite as swole as when they were back
05:35 in season two.
05:36 She's also got some wrist device on her which is probably how she got super big Rick and
05:39 Morty digging graves fighting off zombies Beth and space Beth dancing in some kind of
05:44 Kings court all dressed up in candy and sweets themed attire look back there Morty and summer
05:49 seem like they're having a good time for whatever reason space Beth is pissed housewife Beth
05:53 is afraid like their lives are on the line or something Rick and Morty skiing down a
05:57 slope escaping from people James Bond style, but their heads are huge in their skiing or
06:01 snowboarding on their tongues.
06:03 Then Jerry doing a big parody of Jean-Claude Van Damme with the splits here.
06:07 Let me know in the comments which of these intro scenes you think are real and which
06:10 are fake.
06:11 The other joke to is that the fake interest is that the ones that don't wind up in actual
06:15 episodes might wind up in like distant future episodes like they haven't happened yet.
06:19 So technically they could all be real.
06:21 The other big change to the intro here that you probably notice is that Dan and Justin's
06:25 names got taken out of the opening title of their creator credits for obvious reasons
06:30 they kept their ones at the end select Justin Roiland's name is at the end of the episode
06:34 so we still getting paid his creator credit on the show like he's just not earning extra
06:37 money that he would've gotten for being a voice actor or writing on the show.
06:41 Then Morty finds Rick downstairs in his secret sub basement we learned about last season
06:45 looking for Rick prime.
06:46 They make a bunch of jokes about him finding and killing him, but he's being sarcastic.
06:49 I don't know if this will wind up being true.
06:51 You can let me know in the comments sometimes they'll do that were like Rick will joke about
06:54 something in a sarcastic way, but it'll be the show saying oh yeah, no he actually did
06:58 that he was telling the truth.
06:59 He just sounded sarcastic Rick and Morty season seven hunting my nemesis not every episode
07:04 Morty could be all happening in the background who knows you know no one will accept us.
07:08 They made a really big deal about a bunch of Rick prime stuff happening this season.
07:12 So they could actually just be blowing past that the show does that all the time of the
07:15 be like oh yeah, this canonical thing.
07:16 Yeah were never ever going to reference that ever again.
07:19 The monitor he's looking at those shows a copy of the former central finite curve evil
07:23 Morty essentially destroyed that the citadel Rick's ability to control it, but I think
07:27 is just trying to track Rick primes movements.
07:29 So I think that implies that Rick prime is still alive when he says he knows how to make
07:34 someone leave is a reference to him being insufferable and driving people away that
07:38 apparently Rick knows how to create goes in the confirmed that goes do exist in the Rick
07:42 and Morty universe.
07:44 Then Rick makes a bunch of jokes about referencing the logic behind the ghost like okay we need
07:48 to unpack all this logic here.
07:50 There's a bunch of science to be explored in the reality of goes they do the same kind
07:53 of joke at the end of the episode where he fades out and then tries to explain the logic
07:57 behind actually being able to fade out like it's an actual pill that you take.
08:00 This is a bit of a meta joke about shows over explaining their jokes the way they explain
08:05 him creating the ghost though in this moment is that he injects it with a bunch of unfinished
08:09 business and if you watch a lot of ghost movies or ghost TV shows one of the tropes of goes
08:14 is the reason why you're supposed to become a ghost and not go to heaven or hell is because
08:18 you have unfinished business on the planet and apparently he injects some daddy issues
08:22 into this goes those are his unresolved issues.
08:25 The other thing this kind of soft confirms to is that robots are the robot that Rick
08:28 created has a soul so that it can become a goes because it's one of the other big twist
08:32 like you have to have a soul in order to become a ghost robots having souls is also a big
08:36 question of a lot of sci-fi movies to like do robots have souls or can they get souls
08:41 Rick makes a joke about interventions only being 10% effective then tries to explain
08:46 a way that he's not having intervention even though he describes having intervention.
08:50 They imply summer currently has no friends which would only be true if she's not friends
08:54 with Trisha Lang or Nancy anymore.
08:56 Maybe they stop being friends after Trisha told her she wanted to bang Jerry couple seasons
09:00 ago that would definitely make things awkward between the two of them.
09:03 Then Rick basically brings back some of the biggest characters on the show that everybody
09:07 been asking to come back for a long time now.
09:09 First he goes to gear head who has a salacious gear theme poster on the ball.
09:12 He's kind of a punching bag on the show just the general theme of things they finally bring
09:16 back the squatchy character for real this time everybody's been wondering since season
09:20 two and they're actually going to bring it back.
09:21 They've referenced him in a couple previous seasons like there was an alternate possible
09:25 future that Rick saw where he was killed by squatchy squatchy also appeared in his memory
09:29 with bird person of the war when they fought together, but this time is back for real.
09:34 They make a bunch of jokes at his house to about how he needs intervention just as bad
09:37 is PB needs when it pretty much everybody in the group is in dire need of an intervention
09:41 like they're all meant to be just as bad as he is.
09:44 There's a bunch of empty bottles strewn around the room.
09:46 There's a giant bag of catnip in a giant dong shaped bong the whole joke during season two
09:51 during his wedding is that there were like a lot of dongs and a lot of balls in the background.
09:55 So now when you rewatch those episodes you won't be able to unsee that when Rick sees
09:59 him he also jokes about saying that he wasn't dead.
10:02 That's mostly a wink at the fans like see squatchy wasn't dead.
10:04 We brought him back.
10:06 They bring back bird person whole this time he still voiced by Dan Harmon the last we
10:10 saw them Rick healed his body to its original state.
10:13 Then he learned about his daughter leaving to find her who he's calling bird daughter
10:16 basically is half human daughter with Tammy the house is living in seems like the exact
10:21 same one that he used to live in he'll that her for being super lazy and leaving grovel
10:25 my pieces all over the place.
10:26 Apparently she's an assassin he jokes about finding her in a femme fatale training camp
10:31 they might be creating all this backstory for the characters so that they can bring
10:34 them back and turn it into a bigger thing in future seasons bird person's joke about
10:38 finding a sober person for their group is because like I said they're all meant to be
10:41 just as lousy drunks as PB they use it as an excuse to bring Jean back love the riding
10:47 lawnmower joke to that they turn into the post credit scene like you won't let him stop
10:50 it which is another joke about being super selfish like bird person said I want to show
10:53 my daughter what real selfish people look like when Rick is probably the most selfish
10:57 person you can think of RIP to that dude on the motorcycle that I couldn't think to any
11:02 specific references for the FU name of the bar the middle finger, but is basically like
11:06 the most aggressive most toxic bar you could possibly think of this is what looks like
11:10 a copyright safe sign in the background which might be them calling out somebody in real
11:15 life for trying to sue the show for like some logo that appeared in episode like we dare
11:19 you to sue us like they're giving the middle finger to somebody in real life daring them
11:23 to sue the show and no I do not think that they're giving Justin Roiland the middle finger
11:27 because they would have done this episode long before they actually had to fire him
11:30 off the show PB has apparently been stalking his wife who's been seeing her Pilates instructor
11:35 for little while before she winds up seeing the predator and apparently now predators
11:39 are canon to the Rick and Morty universe he hires one to track his wife to make a joke
11:43 about his old website from 2001 that might be a joke about all the time between predator
11:48 movies like the predator was out of work after predator 2 in the early 90's and didn't work
11:52 again to the next predator movie in 2004 they went to turn into a much bigger joke later
11:57 we falls in love with his wife in search of relationship and becomes his wife's new family
12:01 basically that's actually the plot of some trophy movies the bartender makes a Gilligan's
12:06 island reference because Jean does look kind of like the Gilligan character he says PB
12:10 looks like an eraser because he kind of looks like an eraser and basically proceeds to make
12:14 fun of him calling out all the terrible things that have happened to without realizing that
12:18 he's telling the truth PB uses the lie about his birthday to prove that they're not really
12:22 his best friends because they all forgot love the scene of them all remember like wait a
12:26 minute it was your birthday all crap to be fair.
12:29 It was not his actual birthday.
12:30 So they shouldn't be slighted for not remembering that then they go on a big hangover style
12:35 bender like a big montage they travel to a bottle themed universe basically they're drinking
12:39 their blood here.
12:40 So RIP to all these cans and bottles they wind up drinking what looks like some of Jean's
12:45 piss and then they go to a honey rave and basically do a parody of the opening scene
12:50 of the blade movie with all the bees giving us a giant Hugh Jackman cameo scene and it's
12:55 actually Hugh Jackman doing the voice even though doesn't sound exactly like him, but
12:59 Hugh Jackman has done voiceover roles before.
13:01 There's actually a Hugh Jackman Rick and Morty connection that predates this.
13:04 So Hugh Jackman just started an animated show called koala man that was created by Michael
13:09 Cusack he's the person who did Bush world adventures the parody version of Rick and
13:13 Morty we're going to get me to go to get me green.
13:20 So apparently actor Hugh Jackman is now can into the Rick and Morty universe as are his
13:24 X-Men movies all the other movies is done to make a reference to Rick hosting the Oscars
13:28 which he did recently they make a bunch of Wolverine jokes basically making fun of all
13:32 of his movies and apparently Jean is now related to Hugh Jackman through Hugh Jackman's former
13:37 wife now former when they recorded the episode they were still married, but Debra Lee furnace
13:41 used to be his wife and was Jean's cousin.
13:44 In fact now because of what happened with Hugh Jackman in real life getting divorced
13:47 from his wife are about to get divorce.
13:49 It's a little bit more relevant the way his character acts during this when they're talking
13:52 about PB and his wife's relationship generally his character is all over the map like sometimes
13:57 he's a super big butthole who super selfish and sometimes he says really sincere things
14:02 like he's all over the spectrum in the episode like super over the top ridiculous Hugh Jackman
14:07 they make a joke about him calling his dumps huge Ackman's because Ackman's apparently
14:11 in the universe of Rick and Morty or Australian slang for dumps the obvious joke is that is
14:15 a play on his name basically calling himself a piece of crap and apparently in this universe
14:20 he is a total party monster making them take a bunch a bunch of mystery pills the cause
14:25 them to hallucinate like Rick's fingers sing in the Les Mis style with Hugh Jackman also
14:30 does when he returns at his house.
14:32 They have a bunch of parody movie posters of all the X-Men Wolverine stuff all of his
14:35 Les Mis stuff the X-Men poster is called Jackman is basically Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, but
14:41 as all the different characters.
14:42 I think this is meant to be a meta commentary on how the popularity of his Wolverine character
14:47 kind of took over all the X-Men movies at a certain point like all the movie posters
14:51 even the Les Mis poster has him as coset on the cover so is meant to be like super bait
14:56 like making it all about himself.
14:58 Those pictures of him in his former wife.
14:59 I don't think they got divorced when they actually recorded the episode him with the
15:02 rock is a bunch of awards that he's won is even a golden pair of Wolverine cause he's
15:07 got a giant naked poster of himself with the Wolverine cause, but here's the thing.
15:12 It looks like the Wolverine clause or actually in his head like he actually has Wolverine
15:16 clause it was just walking around naked one day like he doesn't have the Wolverine haircut.
15:20 So this is like him on a normal day and he actually has Wolverine clause they start a
15:24 big running gag with Billy Ocean's Caribbean queen song saying that Hugh Jackman or Hugh
15:28 Jackman tells that he actually wrote the song originally and is actually on his Grammy award
15:33 for age 16 the joke there is that Hugh Jackman was 16 in 1984 that's the year the Caribbean
15:39 queen was published when he calls Rick and energy vampire.
15:42 They actually have one of those on what we do in the shadows.
15:45 He basically sucks people's energy Hugh Jackman makes a joke about Wolverine and when they
15:49 say that it hurts every time that's a reference to the Wolverine movies because Wolverine
15:53 every time he pops his clause it basically hurts really bad because when the clause come
15:58 out that the push through his muscle in his skin and then it has to heal when he retracts
16:02 the clause like every time he pops them he cuts himself.
16:05 They go to his ex-wife's house and Hugh Jackman actually sings Caribbean queen in a parody
16:10 of say anything the John Cusack movie and apparently just beginning freaky with her
16:14 predator PI which I think they use that twist in a couple actual movies he kidnaps his son
16:19 they do a bigger parody of the first predator movie with them covering themselves in mud
16:22 to hide from him and do a big fight the basically goes down the way the fights in the first
16:26 predator movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger go down couples tray really funny moments
16:30 during the actual fight like he rips off gear heads nuts and stuffs them in his mouth.
16:35 The predator taking his armor and weapons off is a twist from the first predator movie
16:39 PB season 4 episode 3 reference was when they showed his fighting abilities where he actually
16:43 ended up getting fired from that professor job and it's also an example of him breaking
16:47 the fifth wall like Rick does every once in a while.
16:50 Basically someone referencing that they know their a character in a fictional TV show.
16:54 Just like another level beyond just addressing the audience breaking the fourth wall.
16:58 Then they reveal that the predator is now like in a family relationship like his son
17:02 thinks of the predator as his father.
17:04 The musket joke is from the end of predator 2 then PB makes peace with his wife and is
17:09 basically ready to move on with his life until Hugh Jackman comes back and almost kills kind
17:13 of seems like he killed the predator and if it wasn't clear Dan Harmon was also doing
17:17 the voice of the predator because I must but man possesses a precious gift who actually
17:23 seems like a pretty chill dude RIP if he did wind up dying they still a car go to a version
17:28 of Taco Bell apparently Taco Bell didn't want to pay Rick and Morty any money.
17:31 That's probably didn't use actual Taco Bell everybody goes their separate ways, but they
17:35 do like a funny end credit scene voiceover where PB basically narrates things from the
17:39 distant future about everybody's adventures after this moment bird person makes a joke
17:44 about the canon of the show like meeting you here seemed canonical he goes off to save
17:49 his daughter who's at a federation compound like is that they might be trying to set them
17:52 up for a bigger storyline in future seasons like this with the Chris so much new backstory
17:56 for this daughter the show also calls out itself for making too many Hugh Jackman Wolverine
18:02 jokes saying that Hugh Jackman went off to try and prevent future Wolverine jokes from
18:06 happening saying that they basically ruined it with all the references on this show like
18:10 never again Hugh Jackman is never going to do something like that again probably is also
18:15 going off in universe to make Deadpool 3 like Deadpool is also probably canon to the universe
18:19 of Rick and Morty if the X-Men movies are canon all the fade out transitions though
18:23 are a trope of a lot of classic TV shows, but then Rick tries to over explain like he
18:28 did earlier in the episode explain the logic behind goes explain the logic behind the fade
18:32 outs as if it's an actual pill like see I to take this pill to fade back in and I'm
18:36 gonna take another one to fade back out PB then fading out saying that it felt like he
18:40 was basically being burned alive.
18:42 Then the post credit scene they pay off the joke about jeans riding more still running
18:46 like it won't stop and it's destroyed an entire town, but it's just about to run out of gas
18:50 like nobody is bothered to just get out of his way.
18:53 I think the cop is meant to be a reference to Sam Elliott like he looks just like Sam
18:56 Elliott.
18:57 He also has a bunch of medallions like one of them is the world's most superstitious
19:00 person making a joke about how he basically let himself get run over instead of moving
19:05 out of the way because literally runs out of gas the minute that it hits them.
19:09 The like I said important to note during the vanity and credits cards Justin Roiland's
19:13 name is still there like he's still getting paid his creator credit for actually co-creating
19:17 the show with Dan Harmon, but I think Dan Harmon's vanity card has been the same for
19:21 a couple seasons now this is him in his fiance in his dogs in real life.
19:25 There whole bunch of Easter eggs and references if there any in the episode that you spotted
19:28 and I didn't talk about in the video just write them below in the comments.
19:32 My only real criticism of the show is it didn't need to lean so hard on the over the top Hugh
19:36 Jackman of it all like it's fun to have celebrity cameos, but the cameos are usually better
19:41 when they're playing new characters not actually playing over the top versions of themselves,
19:45 but was cool that Hugh Jackman came to do the show my episode 2 video will post next
19:49 week after they release it and other big reminder invincible season 2 episodes will start really
19:54 soon I'll be doing weekly episode videos for that it is probably one of the best new animated
19:58 shows click here for my new invincible season 2 trailer video in Easter eggs and click here
20:02 for all my Rick and Morty episodes.
20:05 Thank you so much for watching everyone stay safe and I'll see you guys next one!
20:08 Bye!
