Koalas are now officially endangered in eastern Australia due to threats from bushfires, cars, diseases, dogs, climate-related events, and land development.

00:06 We know that areas where they were once found are simply no longer around.

00:10 They're particularly threatened here in New South Wales,

00:12 but also in Queensland and through parts of Victoria.

00:29 The number one most threatening process for our native koalas is loss of habitat,

00:33 and this loss leads to other threats such as vehicle strike, disease prevalence,

00:38 as well as attack from dogs and feral animals.

00:49 I am really worried about the upcoming fire season.

00:51 It does give me a lot of concern for our koalas, but also for all of our other native species.
