00:06 to assure food security and economic development.
00:09 Meanwhile, the Chief Executive also leads the launching of Dongfeng Motors in Pasig City.
00:15 Alan Francisco tells us more details in this report.
00:19 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the celebration of National Cooperative Day in
00:26 Malacanang. This year's theme of the celebration is "Cooperative, Pioneering the Path to Recovery
00:33 Amidst Modern Challenges of Climate Change and Food Security."
00:37 The event was attended by about 300 cooperative leaders from Luzon,
00:40 Visayas and Mindanao and some government officials. In President Marcos' speech,
00:46 he emphasized the importance of cooperatives to help the Filipinos, particularly the farmers.
00:52 President Marcos also ensured that the government has supported the cooperatives.
00:57 This celebration is in accordance with Republic Act No. 11502, which aims to emphasize the
01:03 contribution of the cooperative movement to the economic development of the country.
01:24 President Marcos promotes the electric vehicles in the country in the launching of a Chinese
01:29 automobile. According to President Marcos, the government's goal is to increase electric
01:34 vehicles in the country until 2040. In data gathered since 2020, there are more than 8,000
01:40 e-vehicles right now in the country. And to increase this number further, there should be a
01:45 gradual shift of electric vehicles to the public transport sector. In conjunction with this,
01:51 the government is implementing its POV modernization program. There are special
01:56 loan facilities and subsidies for purchases of e-vehicles. Currently, there are 400 electric
02:02 public utility vehicles operating in different routes throughout the country, which, according
02:07 to the president, provide safe, modern, comfortable and green transportation to the public.
02:14 So it's my firm belief that these endeavors will not only gain momentum, but also wider adoption
02:21 moving forward as our people realize the benefits of these vehicles in their communities.
02:26 So I enjoin the public to support the programs and policies of government,
02:32 as well as opt for alternative or renewable sources of energy.
02:36 Alan Francisco for the nation.
