00:00 The investigation is still ongoing regarding the FB Derin that was hijacked.
00:05 But some senators are talking to the owner of the ship that was wrecked.
00:08 The victims and the victims' assistants are helping.
00:11 Witness, Chino Gaston.
00:13 The Filipino fishing boat FB Derin was hijacked on October 2
00:19 after it was hit by an oil tanker MT Pacific Ana
00:23 at 85 nautical miles from Bajo de Basiloc, Oscar Borrosol.
00:27 The captain and two crew were on their way home.
00:29 The fishermen who were saved, and some of the victims' relatives,
00:33 were told again by the senators earlier about their experience.
00:37 I was the one next to the cook.
00:40 I just remember that I was under the boat.
00:44 In your opinion, did they know that you were hijacked?
00:48 I think not, not from our lead.
00:50 The Coast Guard thinks that even though it was dark,
00:53 Pacific Ana should have seen the stopped fishing boat.
00:57 Supposedly, they have lookouts and they use binoculars
01:01 so they can spot as they go along their voyage.
01:04 It was not easy to hear the owner of the ship,
01:07 Compass Shipping 38 Corporation,
01:09 and its management company, Sinocor Maritime Corporation Limited.
01:14 But the owner of the ship said that he was sent by the body.
01:18 For sure, we have been cooperating with all the investigation.
01:22 We will definitely continue to do so.
01:24 We will abide by whatever is the finding.
01:26 We are definitely ready to do our principle.
01:28 We will be referring, of course, to UNCLOS,
01:31 the international law when it comes to determining the liability.
01:35 The sharing of information actually is mandatory.
01:40 We already are in the process of concluding the investigation.
01:44 While the investigation is still ongoing,
01:46 some senators are talking to the owner of the ship
01:49 and the head of the country, Marshall Islands,
01:52 who has already given assistance to the victims of the incident.
01:57 We have talked to them and they will help us
02:00 to give a little compensation to the victims
02:05 without waiting for the final outcome of the criminal case.
02:08 We don't want to dribble or delay it too much.
02:10 So that's our appeal to our friend, neighbor, and ally,
02:14 the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
02:16 Should the victims be entitled to a certain amount,
02:20 international law does not prevent paying the entire amount.
02:24 International law does not prevent paying an initial amount.
02:29 All the more.
02:31 It's been ten days.
02:33 Have you received assistance from the suspected vessel?
02:38 No right?
02:39 For GMA Integrated News, here's who your witness wants.
