00:00 Thank you for joining us. We take a single point from tonight's game, but we get the
00:07 feeling it could have been more, couldn't we? Can I get your reflection on the game?
00:10 Yes, really pleased with the young side that played tonight. I thought it was outstanding
00:15 throughout the game. Could have been 1-0 up after 10 seconds. Kick-off worked brilliantly
00:23 and how it didn't go in, I don't know. So it could have been 1-0 up in the first moments
00:27 of the game. But I thought we were outstanding. I thought we completely dominated and controlled
00:32 the game. If it had been a boxing match, it would have been probably stopped. But yes,
00:40 it's disappointing to lose on penalties.
00:42 I suppose we have to just look at the positives. They've spent plenty of minutes into the league,
00:46 so players that perhaps haven't had the chance to get 90s in the league.
00:50 The pleasing thing for me is the process of how we're doing it and how we're playing.
00:54 The boys who have not played so many minutes have come on and played just like the boys
00:59 who have been playing a lot of minutes. It looks exactly like the same identity of how
01:05 we've been playing. So that was really pleasing for me. Passed it really well, created chances.
01:12 I thought we were brilliant tonight. I really did. I thought we were excellent. All that
01:19 was missing was obviously a goal. So yes, disappointing to come out of it the way we
01:26 did.
01:27 Some positives, obviously Addy Adiyemo making his first professional start for the club.
01:30 He looked very bright when he came on. Obviously Harry Rantan coming back from his injury as
01:34 well as well as Kellen Gordon. So there's plenty of minutes into important players that
01:38 perhaps we haven't actually had to see a lot of chances this season.
01:40 Yes, there's a lot of players on the pitch today for us that haven't played loads of
01:43 minutes. And like you say, three players, especially who have hardly played at all in
01:47 terms of minutes because of the injury of late. So yes, there were certain players out
01:57 there that should have been rusty but didn't look it. I thought they were very good. I
02:02 was really pleased with the way we controlled them against a strong side. They were quite
02:07 an experienced team. We made a lot of changes, they made some. But really, really pleased
02:15 with how we played.
02:16 I suppose now we haven't got a game on Saturday. I'm not sure what your plans are for the
02:20 Worthing game next week but we could see a similar side go out for that game. So if anything,
02:24 it's a chance for these lads to work on it during the week and then put it into practice
02:27 next week as well potentially.
02:28 Yes, no, exactly that. I haven't thought about that yet, what I'm going to do. Yes, it will
02:33 be another game which potentially some of these players can get some minutes in. But
02:40 no, I really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed tonight. I thought the young players did exceptionally
02:45 well. As I say, we look very similar to how we've been playing in the league games with
02:51 the other players. So that's pleasing for me that we've got a real identity, not just
02:55 as a first team but as a football club. A real identity. So it was a pleasing to see.
03:00 Yes, and only one change from the team that took on Charlton in the first game of the
03:04 EFL Trophy. It still leaves us in a good position to qualify and it would be a great achievement
03:10 for the young lads and some of the experience that we've got in this team to go through,
03:14 wouldn't it?
03:15 Yes, that's why we're disappointed not to have won it. I'm just on the penalties there
03:18 because I think if we'd have obviously won that, we'd have gone through, wouldn't we?
03:21 So disappointed with that but we've got one more game to play. We've got to make sure
03:25 that we win that.
03:26 Thank you.
03:27 Just talking about Addy Adeyemo, how did you find him performing in his first professional
03:33 performance coming off?
03:34 Yes, very good. Addy's a great player. He's got loads of ability. He can shift it to the
03:40 left, he can shift it to the right. We practised penalties yesterday, stuck it in the top corner
03:44 with his left foot. He's a real confident player. He's going to be somebody that's going
03:50 to be really exciting to watch in the future.
03:52 And this competition, and you've got the Sussex Senior Cup next week, how important are these
03:56 competitions? Because this is a competition that has been derided by some but it's really
04:00 important for you, isn't it, to get the minutes into these players?
04:02 Well, we've got a good squad. We've got a good squad of players and at the moment the
04:06 first team players are doing really well. So there's not many changes needed. Even with
04:14 the last two results, as it were, I still think certainly the performances have been
04:18 good. So there doesn't need to be loads of changes with that. And these players need
04:23 game time. So, yes, it's important we progress through, certainly through this competition
04:27 anyway. Next Tuesday I've not really thought about so much, but I will do now we've kind
04:32 of got this one out of the way. But, yes, it's great for the football club, for the
04:37 young players. I thought it was a really competitive game against a strong side who asked a lot
04:42 of questions of you. They played the Sutton way and, like I say, it was a difficult game
04:46 for us. But I thought we were dominant and controlled and I thought the young players
04:50 did excellent tonight.
04:52 And obviously no game this Saturday. Is there a weekend off for you or are you looking at
04:57 the next game coming forward?
04:59 No, I'll be watching a lot of crew this kind of week and putting a game plan in place for
05:06 that. That'll be my work over the weekend. The players will probably have Saturday, Sunday
05:12 off. I think it's important that they have some time away because it's been a kind of
05:16 a tough schedule. It's been a tough start to the season. We've played some games away
05:22 from home that we've ended up getting in through our front doors at probably four or five o'clock
05:27 in the morning on a number of occasions. So it's important that the players probably have
05:31 a couple of days. But I'll be working, I'll be making sure that I watch crew and try and
05:37 get a game plan in place for when we come back next week.
