00:00 I found the clothes I was wearing in my very first before picture for Jenny Craig.
00:06 It was these."
00:09 Valerie Bertinelli is feeling at peace with where she's at.
00:13 The Food Network star shared a candid video on Instagram where she wore an old outfit
00:17 from a past Jenny Craig before photo, reflecting on how she thinks health isn't always tied
00:22 to the number you see on a scale.
00:25 "I have done so much emotional and mental work to recover from years of pretending everything
00:37 was okay when it wasn't.
00:46 Health is not a body size.
00:47 Health is not that number you see on a scale.
00:52 Your worth as a human being isn't dictated by your body.
00:58 It's not defined by your body.
01:01 I thought I was fat the last time I wore these clothes."
01:09 The 63-year-old ended her message on an upbeat note, saying she now feels much more at peace
01:14 and beautiful.
01:15 "I've never felt more beautiful, more at peace, more mentally and emotionally stable
01:22 than I do today.
01:27 And I'm wearing my fat clothes.
01:32 That's f***ed up."
01:37 Valerie isn't afraid to speak her mind.
01:40 AXA spoke with her in 2022, and she shared about her personal life.
01:44 "Your book, 'Enough Already.'
01:47 Maybe it's me in my 50s, but I love the title of this because it's sort of, I think, how
01:51 a lot of my friends and I are feeling, 'Enough Already' with everything, right?
01:54 You got to find the light.
01:55 You got to lean in.
01:56 I love your chapters on body image.
01:58 When did the struggle start for you?"
02:00 "At a very young age.
02:02 I think it started by watching the way my father treated my mother differently when
02:06 she would gain weight.
02:07 It started when an elementary school teacher poked at my belly and said, 'You're going
02:11 to want to keep an eye on that.'
02:12 I didn't even know.
02:13 I wasn't aware of my body before that happened.
02:16 I was just a kid.
02:17 So I think I learned at a very young age that to gain weight makes you unlovable, and that's
02:23 a lie.
02:24 It's a huge, horrible lie that most women have been told, and it's wrong.
02:29 And I'm not going to live that lie anymore because I am lovable.
02:32 We are all lovable in and of ourselves.
02:35 It doesn't matter what we look like.
02:36 Yes, we want to take care of ourselves, but that doesn't mean that we're not lovable.
02:40 We're always lovable."
