When asked to comment on Cabinet reshuffle, Tan Sri Johari Abdul said he had no idea about it but he was fully aware that the senatorship of one or two ministers would be expiring soon, thus might pave way the way for a reshuffle.

During the Concorde Club meeting on Friday (Oct 6), the Dewan Rakyat Speaker also said that Putrajaya needs someone to take care of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry following the passing of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub without burdening other ministers.

00:00 Would it be correct for the media to believe, to assess that a reshuffle will not be possible?
00:05 Because there are staff there, so a reshuffle would not be possible.
00:13 I do not know whether a reshuffle will happen or not. But certainly one or two ministers, their
00:20 senatorship expires. Okay? So probably the PM wants to fill up or not, I do not know.
00:31 We need someone to. The problem is that when there is a death or senator expires, the minister
00:39 cannot enter the cabinet. That is the issue. So one more minister is in charge. So the
00:48 minister has to bear the responsibility. It is not fair. So I do not know whether a
00:55 reshuffle will happen or not. But at the end of the day, the minister is basically very
01:02 much helped by the entire ecosystem. The moment he walks in, he has KSU and the whole Jing
01:11 Bank to help him. So basically he will take whatever is decided by the cabinet and the
01:17 Kementerian into the Dewat and he answers. If he cannot, he will step back. That is what
01:22 he does. Basically the system allows that, that you can get help to answer.
01:29 So to me, of course timing is one thing. But secondly, it is not fair to the Kementerian
01:38 without a minister for too long. Because you are answerable to the people, you are answerable
01:42 to the public and you are answerable to parliament. So wisdom.
01:48 It is very difficult.
01:50 It is very difficult. I understand. You imagine the Kementerian, the Kementerian for the development
01:55 of the country and the livelihood. This is a very heavy Kementerian. Without a minister,
02:00 it is not fair.
02:02 Thank you.
