Teachers, DepEd personnel now entitled to personal accident insurance --- VP Duterte

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte on Thursday, Oct. 5, said that a Personal Accident Insurance policy is now active for all teachers and personnel of the Department of Education (DepEd) as she works in her concurrent capacity as Education chief to address the challenges faced by teachers. 00:13 As a result, we have signed a memorandum of agreement with GSIS, guaranteeing a dedicated

00:19 and exclusive lane for teachers in all branches.

00:25 We have also established a specialized team within said agency to handle teachers' concerns,

00:33 ensuring that your needs are given the special attention and support they deserve.

00:40 More than half of your members are DepEd personnel, so you should have a dedicated team for DepEd.

00:53 To show our commitments of taking good care of you, we have procured a personal accident

00:59 insurance through the GSIS to provide coverage for all teachers and the Department of Education

01:07 personnel.

01:08 This insurance covers up to $100,000 for accidental death or dismemberment, and up to $30,000

01:18 per year for medical reimbursement due to injuries sustained in accidents.

01:24 It is important to note that this policy covers accidents both here and abroad, whether work-related

01:31 or not.

01:32 So, you have this insurance, Daggan Salamat, GSIS.

01:40 And we are also, as of today, October 5, 2023, the personal accident insurance policy is

01:49 already active.
