00:03 Now back to the news.
00:06 Sources tell Page Six that Melania Trump has quietly renegotiated her prenuptial agreement
00:10 with Donald Trump in advance of his potentially serving a second term in the White House.
00:16 An insider told us of the agreement between the couple who married in 2005, "Over the
00:20 last year, Melania and her team have been quietly negotiating a new post-Nup agreement
00:25 between herself and Donald Trump."
00:27 The source further said, "This is at least the third time Melania has renegotiated the
00:31 terms of her martial agreement," but the source added that it's not because the former first
00:35 lady is going anywhere.
00:37 "Melania is most concerned about maintaining and increasing a substantial trust for their
00:42 son, Barron, 17," the same source familiar with Melania, 53, told Page Six.
00:49 The new agreement also provides for Melania and spans money and property, according to
00:53 the source.
00:54 A different source told us of the new agreement, "I know that she wanted it to provide her
00:59 with more money, and also from what I understand there's a specific amount at minimum that
01:03 Barron is supposed to obtain."
01:06 The first source said that the timing of the updated agreement wasn't only because Trump,
01:10 77, could potentially serve another term, but because of his recent legal battles as
01:14 well.
01:16 Said the insider, "This agreement was necessary because of the current legal battles Donald
01:20 has suffered, including potential payouts in New York Attorney General Letitia James'
01:24 sprawling $250 million civil case against Trump and his real estate business, as well
01:29 as his order to pay $5 million to E. Jean Carroll for defaming her."
01:34 Trump pleaded not guilty in the James case and is appealing Carroll's case against him.
01:39 Said our source, "Trump remains very rich, but with mounting legal bills and judgments,
01:44 the renegotiated prenup would provide a more solid future for Melania and their son, should
01:48 the couple split."
01:50 It's not that she threatened to leave him, the source cautioned.
01:53 It's definitely the underlying idea.
01:56 Reps for the Trumps did not get back to Page Six's request for comment.
02:00 It's not the first time there's been word of a Melania prenup renegotiation, which her
02:04 former spokesperson denied as fiction, before writing her own book on Melania, which Melania's
02:09 team then said was filled with "mistruth and betrayal."
02:13 In a 2020 book "The Art of Her Deal, The Untold Story of Melania Trump" by Washington Post
02:18 writer Mary Jordan, it was alleged that the former first lady renegotiated the couple's
02:22 prenup in 2017, at the same time that she was delaying her move from Manhattan to the
02:27 White House.
02:28 The book, which was said to be based on more than a hundred interviews, reported of Melania.
02:33 She wanted proof in writing that when it came to financial opportunities and inheritance,
02:37 Barron would be treated as more of an equal to Trump's oldest three children, meaning
02:41 Donald's grown.
02:42 "The President's been a little bit more lenient with his parents, and I think that's a good
02:46 thing," she said.
02:47 "I think that's a good thing.
02:48 I think that's a good thing.
02:49 I think that's a good thing.
02:50 I think that's a good thing.
02:51 I think that's a good thing.
02:52 I think that's a good thing.
02:53 I think that's a good thing.
02:54 I think that's a good thing.
02:55 I think that's a good thing.
02:56 I think that's a good thing.
02:57 I think that's a good thing.
02:58 I think that's a good thing.
02:59 I think that's a good thing.
03:00 I think that's a good thing.
03:01 I think that's a good thing.
03:02 I think that's a good thing.
03:03 I think that's a good thing.
03:04 I think that's a good thing.
