00:00 seen today that he has swerved any question about his decision on HS2. Yesterday we had
00:07 five mayors come to Leeds to say to the government to stop inflicting economic damage on our
00:15 region and the whole country. Scrapping HS2 in the north will damage jobs and investment
00:22 and tears up any idea of levelling up. This has been a 13-year project and scrapping it
00:29 now is economic vandalism. Businesses here in West Yorkshire are telling me on a daily
00:35 basis that what they need is certainty and long-term strategic thinking. What we have
00:40 from this Prime Minister is short-termism and, as you say, a vacuum in this decision
00:46 making and also a lack of conversation with us. This is something that has been decided
00:52 in Whitehall and Westminster without talking to the mayors who represent millions of people
00:58 about a project that would connect four biggest cities and boost growth across the whole country.
