00:40 An exhibition that tells the story of a great artist, itself the essence of the history of Italian cinema.
00:46 Sordi, who was born in Trastevere, in a house that has been demolished today, is indissolubly linked to Rome as a city and to an idea of Romanity,
00:59 which has amplified and spread thanks to cinema on a national scale.
01:07 The exhibition is hosted in the house "Museo Alberto Sordi", the historic villa where the actor lived from 1958 to 2003.
01:16 It is the seat of the Historical Archive and the Fondazione Museo, which since 2011 has been protecting, disseminating and valuing his figure at the national and international level.
01:24 We would like to transform it into a place of aggregation, a place where the Romans can feel at home,
01:32 which was the desire of Alberto Sordi, who considered the public his true heir.
01:39 So, feel at home with events, concerts, but not the classic museum where statues, paintings or others are shown.
01:50 Alberto Sordi's professional career is intertwined with the events of our country, from 1920 to 2003.
01:57 He looked at this country, he looked at the Italians, not just the country, and he told them,
02:03 he told them in some way, making the Italians discover how they were.
02:09 It was like a mirror that in some way gave a different image from the one that was proposed.
02:18 For the occasion, he opens the Grand Salon to the public, the theater where Sordi used to preview the films of his films.
02:25 The exhibition includes materials from the historical archive of the Fondazione Museo Alberto Sordi and from 13 other public and private photo archives.
02:35 There are many photos that tell about Sordi, tell about our country, our city,
02:42 and they are photos that speak of a country that he interpreted masterfully and embodied the essence of this country.
02:52 So there is a connection between him, cinema and all of Italy.
