00:03 So what happened here with Barstool Sports?
00:05 They had an issue with one of their prop bets
00:07 from the Cardinals-Giants game on Sunday
00:10 without stealing your thunder.
00:12 I bring you on the show to explain these things.
00:14 So I'll let you explain it, and then we'll talk about it.
00:16 What happened?
00:17 Yeah, I appreciate it, Craig.
00:18 Just in time for the next Giants game
00:20 tonight to talk about what happened last weekend.
00:24 I mean, if you're a Giants fan, it was a really disappointing
00:26 game.
00:28 To see them come back was great.
00:29 But for the bettors who actually placed money on players
00:33 at the Barstool Sportsbook app, they're
00:35 wondering what the heck is going on.
00:38 Pretty much the situation is that live lines during the game
00:42 were the same static lines that you could bet pregame.
00:45 So Saquon Barkley, any time touchdown,
00:48 was still at plus 160 after he already had scored a touchdown.
00:52 Or Daniel Jones' rushing yards prop
00:54 was already at 25 and 1/2 yards after he already had 50.
00:59 So a number of bettors saw this and took advantage of it
01:02 and bet it heavily, which is what happens any time
01:06 the sportsbooks have a mistake like this,
01:08 whether it's lines that weren't aligned with other books
01:12 and other parts of the market, or whether it's
01:14 a straight up mistake like this where they keep
01:16 the same line up all game.
01:18 So a lot of people bet on it.
01:20 Barstool does have this instant withdrawal feature.
01:23 So they kind of knew what was up here.
01:25 And a lot of bettors were like, all right,
01:27 I'm going to take my money out as soon as this cash is.
01:30 Barstool caught on eventually and voided a lot of the bets,
01:34 as many as they could, that hadn't been withdrawn already,
01:36 and suspended the accounts of several other players
01:40 that hadn't withdrawn it already.
01:42 So now you have a situation where
01:43 people have frozen accounts, had bet on these lines
01:46 during the game.
01:47 I'm hearing even some people that had just
01:49 bet on them pregame before the lines kind of got
01:52 taken advantage of and there was a mistake.
01:55 They've had their accounts frozen.
01:56 So a number of states are sort of monitoring the issue,
02:00 looking into it.
02:01 But so far I've heard, basically,
02:03 is that it's well within Barstool's right
02:06 to void these kind of bets any time there's
02:09 an obvious mistake at the book.
02:11 Massachusetts regulators, it's something
02:12 they're talking about right now.
02:14 But I'd imagine a lot of these state regulators
02:16 are going to say, you know what, these kind of things happen.
02:20 And Barstool is well within its rights
02:22 to do this sort of thing.
02:24 But it begs the question, what happens when ESPN is
02:27 tied to the pen product?
02:28 Obviously, Barstool is going to brand itself in November,
02:32 sometime in late November.
02:34 So not a great look for the app.
02:36 There's some new technology that they're going to roll out soon,
02:38 as well.
02:40 We've talked about it before.
02:41 The app hasn't performed well, in part,
02:44 because of the Barstool brand, but also
02:46 because the technology hasn't been great
02:49 and people have preferred playing
02:51 on a different product.
02:52 So you would hope, if you're bullish on pen and ESPN bet,
02:55 that this kind of thing won't roll over into an ESPN
02:59 bet in about a month.
