00:07 the way back to training camp, but his benching in last week's game after a fumble has sparked

00:12 controversy with many people saying they thought that he should have stayed on the field as

00:16 he's one of the offense's most explosive playmakers.

00:19 Offensive players in today's availabilities echoed how important Demario Douglas was to

00:23 the team and we heard from Mack Jones and Hunter Henry about how they hope that he'll

00:27 be able to learn from the mistake and grow in the future.

00:30 Here's what Hunter Henry had to say, sharing a pretty funny story from his rookie year

00:34 where he had to learn a similar lesson.

00:35 I actually talked to him on Monday and told him a similar story to me actually.

00:43 Third game of my career is the first game I'm starting.

00:47 Antonio Gates, I was backing him up basically, but he got hurt.

00:51 I was starting, had a pretty good game, playing Indianapolis Colts.

00:54 We have a two minute drive.

00:56 We're down three or four, maybe two.

01:00 All we need is a field goal.

01:01 I run a really good route.

01:02 There's about a minute left in the game.

01:04 I catch the ball and I kind of get an open field.

01:07 I make the first guy I miss, but I'm looking at the next guy and not thinking about what's

01:13 going on and the ball gets poked out from behind.

01:16 And I actually, I lost the game for our team in a two minute drive situation.

01:21 That was my rookie year, third game of the year.

01:25 Really woke me up to kind of this level and humbled me a lot.

01:30 And I learned a lot and I realized that I needed to hold on the ball a little bit tighter.

01:36 So I kind of conveyed that to him that I'm going on my eighth year now.

01:41 And I think I've only had like one other fumble in maybe eight years.

01:44 And that fumble might be a little questionable.

01:46 We can go back on the tape and look at that one, but you know, Pop's a great player.

01:52 We need him.

01:53 He's going to learn from this.

01:55 He's going to learn a lot from it.

01:58 I enjoy going out there and competing with him.

01:59 He's done a lot of great things for us and I know he will continue to.

02:02 Now while personally I do think Demario Douglas' benching was a bit overblown, as the Patriots

02:06 have several veterans who should have been able to carry the load without him, it's undeniable

02:10 that he's the most explosive player in their receiving core and would have benefited them

02:14 in the game.

02:15 That said, hopefully he was able to learn and grow from this lesson after being benched

02:19 for an entire game and be able to not only produce, but be a player who the Patriots

02:24 can consistently rely on.
