Hoan Kiem Lake And The Turtle God Sword Legend

Legend has it that Emperor Lê Lợi was fishing on Hoàn Kiếm Lake, when a turtle god emerged and asked for his magic sword. Although the sword was precious to the emperor, because he had used it to defeat the invading forces of the northern Ming, Lê Lợi was not about to cross a god. The turtle took the sword to the depths of the lake, where it remains to this day.
It's also called the Turtle Lake and it's a perfect spot for for a sunset walk in the evening. Another great feature is, that on weekends all the traffic is blacked around the lake turning it a very much needed pedestrian zone.
