00:52 as Al Futaim Automotive launched the region's first heavy-duty Volvo electric truck range.

00:58 Our journey in the commercial electric vehicle started almost three years ago

01:06 with the trials of Volvo electric bus in partnership with RTA

01:11 to promote sustainable transport solutions in Dubai.

01:14 Recently this year, we introduced the first heavy-duty Volvo electric truck in the UAE.

01:22 The industry feedback is very positive, both from governmental and private sectors,

01:29 and the visions are aligned with the UAE Greater Vision for Sustainability.

01:36 I'm going to give you an exclusive information for you and your viewers.

01:40 We're working in the coming few months to launch an all-electric construction machine,

01:46 and we are very excited about it.

01:48 In its journey to pioneer a new EV ecosystem in the UAE,

01:53 Al Futaim Automotive is also redefining the customer experience

01:58 through a string of new innovative ventures, including their digital e-commerce platform.

02:05 E-commerce in the automotive industry is important regardless of electric vehicle

02:13 or regular combustion engine vehicle.

02:16 But for electric vehicle, there are two critical aspects related to that.

02:20 First, the fact that our customers that we are bringing are a lot more digital native,

02:25 early adopters on buying goods online,

02:28 but also they will be extensively searching for more information online.

02:32 And the cycle from the time that they have decided to look into an electric vehicle

02:37 until purchase is slightly longer than on a regular vehicle.

02:41 The reason being that they are trying to understand all the questions around

02:45 range, around charging infrastructure,

02:47 and all of these anxieties need to be lifted before they make up their decision.

02:51 And this is something that we have taken into consideration

02:54 when building our e-commerce platform for BYD and for Polestar.

02:57 Working hand in hand with the commercial teams,

03:00 we've packaged the way that is end-to-end,

03:01 so that on the website, all of the explanation is ready and readily available

03:07 for the customer to make up his mind.

03:09 And what we realized is that it was the winning formula.

03:11 So for BYD, for instance, which we have launched in the beginning of the summer,

03:15 for the first time in the history of Half-Life,

03:17 we actually launched a brand and a vehicle online

03:21 without anybody being capable to actually touch and drive the vehicle.

03:25 And yet, to our surprise, very rapidly, we had a big number of bookings being made online.

03:30 People ready to actually put their money in order to put their hands on the car first.

03:35 In one hour, we had the first booking, and after three weeks, we had over 150 bookings.

03:41 So the winning formula really on e-commerce and specifically for electric vehicles

03:45 is to have enough information for the customer to entirely make up his mind.

03:49 And then a journey online, which is very easy, very simple step.

03:53 You choose your car, you choose your finance solution,

03:55 and you choose your infrastructure option as well.
