Alton Classic Car Show 2023

Classic vehicles of all ages and types shimmered in the sun in Alton town centre on Saturday as the Alton Classic Car Show returned.
Organised by Alton Lions Club, it brought all the glamour and razzmatazz of motorsport to the High Street and Cross & Pillory Lane, supported by a craft market, a display of electric vehicles, live music, and on-street family entertainment.
Alongside a diverse and impressive range of classic vehicles, there were exhibits showcasing Formula 2 and Formula 3 racing cars, plus Austin Healey 3000s, Camberley Kart Club, Tongham Car Club’s Racing Bangers, Nija Karts for children, and racing bikes.
Road closures until 6 pm covered the High Street, from its junction with Church Street to the Drayman’s Way entrance to the Lady Place Car Park, plus Market Street, Market Square, Turk Street, and Cross & Pillory Lane.
Some of the classic cars took part in a pre-show rally before arriving in the town centre to join the classic car show, which was open to visitors from 10am to 4pm.
All exhibitors had received a welcome pack donated by the event’s primary sponsor, The Little Grey Cells, and other local businesses.
Vehicles were entered into their appropriate judging classes.
As well as trophies for each class of vehicle, a Special Package was awarded to the Best in Show.
Steve Opacic, from Winchester, won the top prize for his 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Roadster which had previously spent 30 years in New Zealand prior to Steve purchasing it six years ago.
Any profits from the show will support the charity Young Lives vs Cancer.
