00:07 - Generative AI will definitely change the way we live, work,
00:17 and play.
00:18 Generative AI brings technology into realms once taught
00:23 to be uniquely reserved for humans' creativity.
00:27 This technology can create art, compose music, write poetry,
00:32 design buildings, and even draft legal documents,
00:36 not withstanding with the human input as a prompt.
00:41 The possibilities are limitless, and it's time for Malaysia
00:45 to embrace this wave of innovation.
00:48 According to a Malaysian Center for AI report,
00:52 the sentiment on generative AI technology
00:54 is optimistic, with 75% of the civic population
00:58 believe that such tools help them in formulating
01:02 ideas for their work.
01:04 Close to 2/3 of Malaysian workforce
01:07 will potentially use generative AI for up to 20%
01:11 of their regular work activities.
01:14 This represents a paradigm shift that
01:16 will redefine focusing their jobs
01:19 than replacing jobs entirely.
01:22 The report cited that the generative AI technology
01:25 can potentially unlock a staggering $113.4 billion
01:30 worth of productive capacity in the Malaysian economy
01:36 if it is fully adopted across industries.
01:40 This is equivalent to one quarter of our 2022 GDP.
01:46 Productivity growth is a key driver for economic growth
01:50 for any economy.
01:51 And if we can unlock this untapped potential
01:54 through the adoption of generative AI,
01:58 it brings us closer to achieving our goals
02:01 to become a high-income nation.
02:03 Overall, generative AI serves as a catalyst
02:06 for achieving the objectives of both the 12th Malaysia
02:10 Plan and the new Industrial Master Plan 2023
02:14 by fostering data-driven decision-making
02:17 and advancing the country's technological capabilities.
02:21 In conclusion, the Ministry of Economy
02:24 through the Malaysia Centre for IR
02:27 will be at the forefront, bringing together
02:29 global experts who will work alongside our public
02:32 and private sectors to shape ecosystems that
02:36 will support the accelerated adoptions of new technologies,
02:40 such as generative AI.
02:42 Together, let's embrace these technology changes
02:48 to unlock the enormous potential that it offers.
02:53 I would also like to say Selamat Hari Malaysia to everybody.
02:58 Tomorrow-- tomorrow, we'll be celebrating it in Kuching.
03:04 And also, it is a great time to realize the sacrifices
03:11 that our forefathers have made and how harmonious
03:15 we've lived as a nation, that we can excel together.
03:20 It gives me great pleasure to officiate
03:22 launching of the first report from the Malaysian Centre
03:25 for the Fourth Industrial Revolution,
03:28 the economic impact of generative AI,
03:30 the future of work in Malaysia.
03:33 Thank you.
