00:05 Jumbo-Visma will no doubt be celebrating overall victory in Madrid on Sunday, but which of

00:14 Superdomestique turned race leader Sepp Kurs has an advantage of just 8 seconds over Jonas

00:18 Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic isn't far behind.

00:21 "Yeah, to be honest I actually hope that he will keep the jersey.

00:31 "The team has given me their support and they really want to support me but I also

00:37 have to deliver and stay focused in these stages and do my best.

02:07 After around 15km of hard racing, a group of 14 riders managed to fight their way out

02:13 No surprises to see Evenepoel up there looking to wrap up the mountains classification and

02:18 perhaps take another stage win.

02:21 He was joined by Andreas Krohn in his fifth breakaway of this Vuelta and other talented

02:25 climbers including Damiano Caruso, Egan Bernal, Max Puhl and Andrea Piccolo who wore the red

02:31 jersey on stage 3.

02:33 The peloton quickly decided to leave them to it and the gap soared out to over six minutes

02:38 before the first of the day's five climbs, the front group collaborating nicely at an

02:42 average speed of nearly 43km/h.

02:47 At the top of the Alta del Acer Stafas is Remco Evenepoel who goes to the top, he strides

02:53 forward it's five points into his pocket.

03:05 Evenepoel inching closer to victory in the mountains classification as the breakaway

03:12 By the time they reached the second climb, the gap was up to ten minutes.

03:16 Next up was the Puerto de San Lorenzo, a tough hike of 9.9km at an average of 8.6% with pinches

03:24 A couple of riders in the breakaway weren't looking too comfortable including Bernal.

03:30 The former Tour de France and Giro d'Italia winner has had a difficult comeback since

03:34 his terrible accident in early 2022 but to his credit the Colombian was hanging in there.

03:39 Ten more points for Remco at the summit giving him an unassailable lead over Vingegaard in

03:52 As long as he completes the race he'll go home with that polka dot jersey.

04:01 The front group still holding firm.

04:03 At this point only the French sprinter Hugo Hofstetter had been dropped with others catching

04:07 up on the descents.

04:09 The gap still over ten minutes heading into the final 60k.

04:13 Well the group finally began to split on the short but steep Alto de Tenebrado.

04:20 Evanapool leading the way followed by Caruso, Poole, Kroon, Orsolan and Bernal just about.

06:55 Despite his GC woes the defending champion will finish the race with at least three stage

07:04 It has been an amazing world even though the GC plan didn't work out but I think we can

07:10 be very proud and it's amazing to finish the stage with such a good feeling and to have

07:17 such good legs in the end of the world.

07:19 It means that I keep improving and I just had a bit of a bad week in the second week

07:23 so I think we should just be happy and proud.

07:32 Evanapool's margin of victory was 4 minutes 44 over Caruso.

07:35 Ayuso led in the GC favourites at 9 minutes 29 with Kuss even gaining a few seconds on

07:40 Wingergaard after the day and eased off in the final metres.

07:44 The American takes the lead of 17 seconds into the last three stages, two of which are

07:48 flat as a pancake.

07:49 Ayuso still has 19 seconds on Landa who is himself 11 seconds ahead of Maas.

07:55 Evanapool's set to become just the second Belgian to win the Vueltas Mountains classification

08:00 after Thomas de Gendt in 2018, his lead a massive 78 points.

08:05 And Ayuso will finish up as the race's best young rider.

08:08 He has a handsome margin of 3 minutes and 37 seconds over Kian Utterbroeks.

08:15 After a series of intense days in the mountains it's back to the plains tomorrow with a sprint

08:20 Caden Groves is no doubt the favourite but anything is possible in the third week of
