00:00 Welcome to the third and final week of La Vuelta.

00:08 We resume with the short and punchy 16th stage before tomorrow's trip to the iconic Angliru.

00:14 Sepp Kuss still leads the race and appears to be the chosen one for Jumbo Visma, although

00:18 perhaps not today.

00:19 It's a really short stage and it's a stage that's really good for Primoz.

00:26 So if it's easy enough we might think about controlling but you have to do it all within

00:31 reason so we'll see.

00:33 Why is it good for Primoz?

00:35 It's really explosive, steep final in the end and he always has that punch in the finish.

00:42 Of course there's always a lot of other guys that are big rivals for this kind of finish

00:47 but he's feeling really good and we'll see what we can do.

00:52 Some riders are already thinking about Angliru tomorrow.

00:55 Remco Evenepoel has said he won't be attacking today and he is not the only one who wants

00:59 to keep his powder dry.

01:01 My first participation in La Vuelta was in Angliru and it was one of the hardest corners

01:08 so I hope to have the energy to do well tomorrow.

01:13 DSM Fermanick have been close to another win since the opening team time trial, with two

01:18 podium places for Romain Bardet and one for Chris Hamilton.

01:21 I was happy with the result but you can always be hungry for more because there's still another

01:29 We're all here to win at the end of the day so we just have to take all the opportunities

01:38 Groupama FDJ have also been lively and today suits their young star Romain Gregoire.

02:28 The racing is underway.

02:30 Well there was no hanging around after the flag dropped with the average speed quickly

02:34 ramping up to over 50km/h.

02:37 Ten riders managed to wriggle free of the peloton but they weren't given much rope.

02:41 Bardet and Gregoire were both in there along with breakaway regular Kroon and Groves in

02:45 the green jersey.

02:47 Battistella, Fafaka, Piccolo, Pool, Le Pera and Sobrero also on the attack.

02:52 But several teams were unhappy with the move, notably the INEOS Grenadiers and the chase

02:56 was on, with Marc Solaire struggling to keep pace somewhat at the back.

03:02 Slowly but surely the INEOS-led peloton reeled the ten escapees back in and after 40km on

03:07 this small rise it all came back together again.

03:11 Still the pace remained high as several riders tried to counter.

03:20 A few kilometres later a smaller group of six riders went clear.

03:24 Groves and Pool were still there along with Vandenberg, Cattaneo, Prodom and Nicolaou.

03:30 Groves targeting the 20 points at the intermediate sprint as he looked to tighten his grip on

03:34 green.

03:37 They pulled about a minute ahead but it was increasingly obvious that this one was going

03:41 to the peloton.

03:43 Jumbo Visma deciding that they fancied a crack at the stage victory and going to work on

03:47 the front, they approached the intermediate sprint with Groves getting set.

03:56 Coming into the intermediate sprint there into the town of Encuera.

04:01 Number 81 it's Caden Groves who's looking for the maximum points.

04:05 He's having a good overview as he takes a look around him.

04:09 He's trying to see who else wants to challenge.

04:12 He goes early and he's also being challenged by Julius Vandenberg.

04:24 The bunch continued to close in as Groves sat up and rolled back to the peloton, job

04:28 done for the Australian.

04:30 Cattaneo also decided to call it a day, leaving four riders out at the front.

04:39 Dylan van Baarle continuing to hammer away as the brake was finally swallowed up and

04:43 the favourites prepared to take centre stage.

04:48 On to the base of the climb, the final climb of the day with 4.8km remaining.

04:58 The peloton was quickly reduced to a group of around 25 as Jumbo Visma decided to make

05:05 And now we see the first attacks on the climb.

05:08 Jonas Vingegaard going clear and there was no immediate reaction behind, at least not

05:12 from the other GC hopefuls.

05:16 Finn Fischer-Black and Wout Poels trying to hunt him down, but the double Tour de France

05:20 winner isn't an easy man to catch.

05:22 Vingegaard set to close the gap on his team mate Kurt in the overall standings.

05:27 Coming into the final kilometre, there was finally another little flurry of action further

05:32 down the road.

05:38 And now we start to see an acceleration from Primoz Roglic.

05:43 Roglic looking to put some time into Juan Ayuso and Enric Mas, but to no avail as Vingegaard

05:48 sawed away to another stage win.

05:54 And Jonas Vingegaard is going to take the stage victory on stage 16.

05:58 He's got daylight.

06:00 He's going to take back time.

06:02 He comes into the fans and the hoardings and he sees the line up ahead.

06:08 Jonas Vingegaard is going to win stage 16.

06:10 He passes the commentary box.

06:14 And Jonas Vingegaard is the stage winner on stage 16 up to Berges.

06:23 Another show of strength from Jumbo Visma as Vingegaard claimed his second win of the

06:27 It's a 15th victory this season for the Dane who could still pull off the Tour of

06:32 Vingegaard once again emotional as he dedicated the win to his team mate Nathan van Goydonk

06:36 who was involved in a serious car crash this morning.

06:41 I'm just happy to win today.

06:46 We had some terrible news this morning and I wanted to win for my best friend today.

06:53 Luckily now there are good news about his condition.

07:16 Vingegaard winning ahead of the impressive Fischer Black who grabbed his first World

07:33 It was a good day for Groves who increased his points lead to 93 over Evenepoel.

07:37 Provided he survives the mountains and makes it to Madrid, he should go home with the green
