Ukrainian children return to school in underground metro station

More than 1,300 schools in Ukraine have been destroyed by Russia, but the country’s children are dreaming of their future and working to achieve their ambitions.

00:40 The underground school caters for 400 students. The ones in the 11th grade are here preparing

00:46 for a multi-subject university entrance test.

00:49 Parents are happy that their children can learn the main subjects offline and prepare

00:54 for the multi-subject test. It`s important for parents and for children, because communication

00:59 in our times, in this situation, is very important for children. Socialization is necessary,

01:05 because during the COVID-19 and during the war, children got used to working in a group,

01:13 Many schools in Ukraine have been bombed by Russia. In Kharkiv, there are just over 120

01:18 remaining in good condition. But due to constant bombing in the region, the city decided to

01:23 play it safe and installed dozens of classrooms in at least five metro stations, allowing

01:28 the children to return to school, even in times of war.
