Japanese company iSpace's Hakuto-R lander captured amazing views of the the Earth during a solar eclipse and more during its journey to a moon landing attempt.   Credit: iSpace

00:00 This first image, Hakamada-san, look at it. It's just beautiful.

00:04 Yeah, beautiful and very incredible pictures taken from our land.

00:11 It is truly amazing how a privately funded spacecraft can capture the moon and the earth like this and send the image back.

00:21 Now, Hitachi-san, looking at this, I think this image also contains some scientific, very, very interesting speciality.

00:28 Can you explain it a bit more?

00:30 Oh, yes. Yeah. So this is the picture of the earth light on the moon.

00:36 But most interestingly, as you can see, if you can take a very close look at the earth,

00:42 we see actually the shadow of the moon on the earth.

00:46 So you see that black spot there, close to the austral area.

00:51 So this is actually the shadow of the moon.

00:53 So we took this picture during the solar eclipse.

00:57 So it's really interesting to see this kind of phenomena, not from the earth, but from the lunar orbit.

01:04 So this is very interesting and very exciting picture.

01:43 So this is a part that we call MLI, a multi-layer installation.

01:49 MLI. And we see the plasma logo on the right hand side.

01:54 So it's really amazing to see this shadow and the bright part and the shadow part of the moon.

02:03 Because there is no atmosphere on the moon, so we can clearly see the lunar surface.
