00:02 - Thursday night football, a standalone primetime game,
00:06 week number two for the second consecutive season
00:09 between the Eagles and the Vikings.
00:12 Tonight in Philadelphia DRS,
00:13 the Birds booked as a near touchdown favorite.
00:16 In fact, it was a touchdown throughout most of this week.
00:20 Now off by that hook, six and a half in favor of Philly.
00:24 The total worked its way up to 49 and a half.
00:27 Now down by a full point DRS to 48 and a hook.
00:31 Let's start with the spread and the total DRS.
00:34 What stands out to you?
00:36 - Well, the Eagles are getting a lot of respect here still.
00:38 Six and a half, seven point favorites here.
00:40 We'll see where that line closes out.
00:41 Probably more likely to stay under a touchdown
00:43 at this point.
00:44 The total, I do agree with when it was up at 49 and a half
00:46 with that line move.
00:47 It's now back to 48 and a half.
00:48 I think we get points,
00:49 but if we're just starting here
00:51 and taking a look at the sides,
00:52 the Philadelphia Eagles gonna run into some issues tonight.
00:54 If you watched opening day,
00:56 yeah, they handled their business in New England.
00:57 They won and covered the spread.
00:59 Did they look pretty doing it?
01:00 Absolutely not.
01:01 But here could be the underlying issues
01:02 for the Philadelphia Eagles on a short week here.
01:04 You lost your starting middle linebacker,
01:06 to Kobe Dean, who had the green dot on his helmet.
01:08 If anybody doesn't know what that means,
01:10 that means that's the quarterback of the defense
01:11 getting the signals in from the sideline.
01:13 That's no longer gonna be his.
01:15 He's actually placed on IR.
01:16 If you take a look at the secondary here,
01:18 James Bradbury late in that game, got a concussion.
01:20 He will not be participating tonight.
01:22 So a rookie cornerback is gonna get the start
01:24 opposite of Darius Slay.
01:27 Secondary also, Blankenship, got a rib injury.
01:29 He's not gonna be able to go tonight.
01:31 So you're down three starters here on a football team
01:33 that started to get worked over
01:35 just a little bit over the middle.
01:37 So now you have new middle linebacker,
01:38 some new linebacker formations as well as a secondary
01:41 that's missing two of the four starters.
01:44 And also keep in mind, the two safeties last year, Ben,
01:46 they both left via free agency.
01:48 Blankenship filled in, now he's down.
01:50 So theoretically, you're down multiple players
01:52 from last year's secondary just to begin this game.
01:54 But oh yeah, it's a pretty good wide receiver
01:56 on the other side that's Justin Jefferson.
01:58 So looking at the point spread,
01:59 I do think the Philadelphia Eagles win.
02:00 Do I love to take the minus six and a half?
02:02 Not necessarily, but I gotta tell you,
02:04 we're early in the season.
02:05 Maybe if this was four or five weeks in, Ben,
02:07 on a Thursday night game, we take a look at the totals
02:09 and say, hey, you know what?
02:10 A lot of these guys are banged up,
02:11 technically, which they are,
02:13 but a lot of these guys are gonna miss this game.
02:15 You still have those fresh legs at the start of the season.
02:17 Keep in mind also, when you look at the Philadelphia offense
02:20 it was a rainy day in New England
02:22 against a pretty good defense.
02:23 Crystal clear conditions tonight,
02:25 not nearly as hot or as humid as it was past Sunday.
02:28 I actually like points in this game, Ben, I do.
02:31 (upbeat music)
02:33 you
