A man has survived being peppered with bullets in Western Sydney in the second targeted shooting in as many days. Police are once again hunting those responsible as they search a motive for the latest case of gun violence.

00:00 Another young man ambushed by a gunman outside his own home.
00:07 I was just in the kitchen cooking and heard like five or six bangs, just one after the other.
00:11 But I knew they were guns, they didn't sound like fireworks that we get around here all the time.
00:15 Two small bangs earlier and then we just heard six larger bangs a little after that.
00:21 The 29-year-old victim had just finished work and was pulling into his driveway in Blackett about 9pm when the shooter approached.
00:29 There was an ambush style of attack, a number of rounds fired through the windscreen of the car that impacted the victim whilst he was seated in the car.
00:36 The gunman fled on foot as emergency crews rushed to the scene.
00:40 The victim was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition with gunshot wounds to his head and body.
00:46 Neighbours were frightened by the sound of gunfire but not surprised.
00:51 That's what happens around here. It's disgusting but it's what happens.
00:55 Police are still trying to find a motive for the attack. The victim has no known links to organised crime and no significant criminal history.
01:04 It's the second targeted shooting in Sydney within 24 hours.
01:09 A 27-year-old man who was known to police was ambushed as he got into a car in an underground car park in Campsie on Tuesday night.
01:19 Police don't believe the two attacks are linked and are now hunting separate gunmen.
