00:59 When you first heard that you have this scientific discovery,
01:02 ano bang naging pakiramdam?
01:04 Siyempre, I was very surprised, nagulat ako.
01:09 Atsaka, very honored.
01:10 Kasi, aside from mga comedy and music,
01:15 ako ay mahilig ako ng mga hayop and biology.
01:19 So, I was so honored to have, you know, surprised.
01:24 What was your course in college?
01:27 Zoology.
01:29 Ah, kaya lang pala!
01:31 Okay. So, has it been your dream to become a scientist?
01:36 O ito talaga chamba lang?
01:38 Yeah, it has.
01:39 I studied zoology in university in Toronto, Canada.
01:43 Pero I didn't finish.
01:45 So, my whole life, I thought, oh, wala na.
01:49 I don't have a dream, no more that dream to work in the science.
01:53 Pero, ngayon, I have an ant channel, AntsCanada, on YouTube.
01:58 And I'm working in the sciences again, even if I'm not finished.

02:19 Kasi, di ba, siyempre, you said it's in your own backyard.
02:22 So, how was that?
02:24 I mean, normally, we don't mind the ants, di ba?
02:27 Pero ikaw talagang pinag-aralan mo pa.

02:32 I, um, we were building my house, me and my partner's house, dito sa Cavite.
02:38 Tapos, I was wandering in the, you know, sa gubat.
02:42 And I found mga itam that, it, parang, yung itsura iba.
02:48 And I was like, hey, this is different.
02:50 So, I put it in a bottle, and then I sent it to my friend, Dr. David Generelle.
02:57 Oh.
02:58 PLB. And he identified that it's a species that has never been discovered, dito sa Pilipinas.
03:05 Wow.
03:06 Ay, kasi galing, galing.
03:07 Zoology siya, eh.
03:09 So, talagang fascinated ka.
03:10 Pero before this encounter, talagang fascinated ka na ba sa mga ants?
03:13 Kasi marami na mga exotic animals, di ba?
03:15 Oo. Yes, I've been doing my ant channel hanggang 2009.
03:19 Wow.
03:20 Since 2009.
03:21 In 2009, before my comedy content.
03:25 What got you started with ants? Bakit ants?
03:28 Ako ay mahilig ako ng mga langgang, dahil, parang,
03:33 Sleek sila.
03:34 Sleek sila. They're like tao.
03:36 They're big societies, milyones ng miyembro.
03:40 Tapos, they have a garbage site.
03:44 They put other garbage in one area.
03:47 They have a graveyard, may cemetery.
03:50 You know, they're like people.
03:52 And when you have an ant colony, it's like watching a city of people.
03:57 Wow.
03:58 Ganun pala.
03:59 May iba ka pa bang exotic animals sa bahay, bukod sa mga langgam?

04:05 May iba ka pang exotic animals?
04:06 Ayoko.
04:07 Yes.
04:08 Oo, marami.
04:09 I have guana, mga parrots, so may ibon.

04:16 I forgot, tarantula.

04:20 I have ahas.
04:22 Ay, ayoko na ahas.
04:24 Nakapunta na ako sa kondo niya dati.
04:26 Tapos, nag-interview ko na si Mikey doon sa kondo niya sa Makati.
04:28 Meron. May ahas na animals niya.
04:30 Pero of course, sa mga may interest, sa mga ganitong hilig din,
04:33 meron ka bang formal training or special training in handling these animals?
04:37 Um, wala, actually. It was just all self-taught.
04:42 Reading on internet and reading online.
04:45 I even wrote a book on mga langgam and how to take care of them.
04:48 Mm.
04:50 Ang galing.
04:51 Oh, Mikey, may tanong na ako ah.
04:53 What's your advice to our viewers na naiirita?
04:57 Hindi ko alam yung English ng naiirita ha.
04:59 Basta yun, naiirita sa mga langgam.
05:01 Okay, gets mo, 'di ba?
05:03 Because for them, ants are pests.
05:05 'Di ba naiinis tayo sa mga langgam?
05:07 Oo, tinitiris agad.
05:08 Yes.
05:09 So, there are thousands of species of ants.
05:12 And dito sa atin, yung bagong ant that I found, it's the 555 species of ants.
05:21 And only a handful of ants are the ones you see sa bahay.
05:25 The rest are non-pests. Hindi pests.
05:28 Hindi peste.
05:30 So, they're very important sa ecosystem.
05:34 Yun ang dapat tandaan natin.
05:36 Tsaka, pag dinalanggam, 'di ba, sweet ka.
05:38 Importante yung langgam.
