00:00 Look at this. Look at this new footage.
00:01 Look at all those spider people.
00:03 Hey, everyone, Sean O'Connell, the managing editor here at CinemaBlend.
00:11 I'm going to try a trailer reaction for the new animated movie
00:16 that's coming out next year called Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse.
00:19 I have not seen the trailer yet.
00:21 And if you guys have not seen me on screen before here on one of the CinemaBlend's
00:25 YouTube videos, you can tell I'm an enormous Spider-Man fan.
00:29 He's my all time favorite character.
00:31 I actually wrote a book about the Spider-Man film franchise called
00:34 With Great Power, and no, this isn't a cheap plug.
00:36 I just want you guys to know this is easily my most anticipated film
00:41 going into 2023.
00:43 I loved Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse.
00:45 I think it is probably outside of No Way Home.
00:48 I think the two of them are neck and neck for the best Spider-Man movies ever made,
00:51 especially for the way that it introduces Miles Morales and kind of proves
00:55 the notion that anyone can wear the mask,
00:57 which I think is so appealing about Spider-Man.
01:00 I haven't seen this trailer yet.
01:01 Like I said, we're going to watch it together for the very first time.
01:03 I'm going to give you my pure reaction to it on the end of the trailer.
01:07 We will go into a little bit more analysis about things that I got to see in this.
01:11 Without further ado, let's dive right into the brand new trailer
01:14 for the highly anticipated Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse.
01:25 Definitely want to see how far into the multiverse we go with this.
01:28 I can hear you being quiet, mom.
01:35 I hope I didn't ice your game, man.
01:40 No one my age says those words in that order.
01:44 It's just hard to see my little man not being my little boy all the time.
01:50 Yeah.
01:52 For years, I've been taking care of this little boy.
01:56 Aw, Stan's cameo.
02:00 I love that so much.
02:02 One of my favorite scenes from the first movie.
02:04 That he feels like he belongs wherever he wants to be.
02:10 The first flight.
02:13 Not bad, kid.
02:18 Great new suit.
02:25 Is they won't look out for you like us.
02:27 Want to get out of here?
02:31 Wherever you go from here, you have to promise to take care of that little boy for me.
02:37 Make sure you never forget to bring him home.
02:40 Look at all those spider people.
02:42 And he never doubts that he is loved.
02:51 And he never lets anyone tell him that he doesn't belong there.
02:58 You got to promise, Miles.
03:04 I promise.
03:06 Leans so heavily into the heart already.
03:11 Who do you think you are?
03:15 Really?
03:16 Oscar Isaac's character.
03:18 Oh my God, this is overwhelming.
03:19 We're supposed to be the good guys.
03:21 We are.
03:22 Oh my God.
03:27 All right.
03:29 Good tease.
03:30 Good tease.
03:31 That animation looks totally different.
03:33 I love it.
03:33 Okay.
03:35 Now I need to see that immediately.
03:37 Uh, clearly there's a lot going on in that trailer in spurts.
03:41 Um, but what I want to focus on right off the bat is that I love that the bulk of
03:44 this teaser trailer leans into the heart of the family, uh, of Miles Morales.
03:49 It's him and his mom.
03:50 It's her talking about how difficult it is as a parent, sort of watch him grow
03:54 up and send him out into the world.
03:56 And will the rest of the world be able to protect him as well as she wishes or
04:02 knows that, that her and her husband can.
04:04 Uh, and that's what the root of Miles is.
04:06 That's what makes miles different from Peter Parker is that he has a family.
04:10 He has parents.
04:11 He has the people who love him.
04:13 Yes.
04:13 Aunt May, of course loves Peter Parker and Peter has Mary Jane
04:16 and all those people in his lives.
04:17 But the dynamic with miles and his family is always what set him apart
04:20 differently from Peter Parker.
04:21 And I love that across the spider verse is leaning heavily into that.
04:25 Uh, yes, of course, we're going to be able to want to pause and freeze frame
04:30 on the sequences that show miles and spider Gwen running through the multiverse
04:35 and seeing the various spider people that show up, I definitely for sure.
04:39 Saw a PS five Spider-Man with his white stripe through the costume.
04:44 I saw paper bag head Spider-Man.
04:46 We get a Peter B Parker showing back up again, and I swear he's wearing a baby
04:51 Bjorn in addition to a bathrobe, which suggests to me that possibly when he
04:56 went back and reconciled things with his Mary Jane, that they had a baby, which
05:00 would raise some emotional stakes for him.
05:02 Of course, being a multiverse, this might not even be the same Peter B
05:06 Parker that we knew from the first movie.
05:07 It could be a completely different one because we've been told that we're going
05:10 to see, I believe the number was either 240 or 270 different Spider-Man
05:16 characters that span multiple worlds.
05:18 Uh, so there's a ton of things that they can get to.
05:21 And as you can see, some of the unfinished animation that we saw on a lot of those
05:25 cameo Spider-Man that were running past, I'm sure that's going to get
05:28 perfected as we go through, but the two main other new characters that were
05:31 introduced, uh, Issa Rae is playing a version of spider woman who we saw.
05:36 I was lucky enough to see 30 minutes of a very unfinished opening sequences to
05:42 Spider-Man across the spider verse back when we were in Las Vegas for cinema con.
05:46 And that sequence, I believe when he's raised, spider woman shows up.
05:51 Uh, she is battling against the scorpion with spider Gwen in spider Gwen's universe.
05:57 Um, it went by so fast that I couldn't quite tell if that was the unfinished
06:01 footage that I saw from the cinema con footage, but I believe that's going to
06:04 be from one of the opening sequences of the movie and of course, then a Spider-Man
06:08 29, uh, 2099, Miguel O'Hara, who's going to be played by Oscar Isaac.
06:13 A great shot of him.
06:15 I mean, he looks like such a dominating figure.
06:17 There is conversation about, as you can hear in the trailer, who's the good guy.
06:20 Who's the bad guy.
06:21 Are they actually going against a Spider-Man 2099 as an antagonist?
06:26 We do see a great shot of him without his mask.
06:28 Um, but the action's kind of limited in this trailer.
06:30 It's a lot of character development and then very brief looks into the multiverse.
06:35 The animation looks incredible.
06:36 It looks unbelievable.
06:37 It looks even better than it did the first time through different.
06:40 Uh, and yet still sort of pulling from what works so well about the Oscar
06:45 winning feature that we saw in Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse.
06:48 I like the miles is more of a teenager when they do contrast him with some of
06:53 the shots that you saw from him from the first movie, he looks so much more like
06:55 a kid there, so it's good that they're sort of moving that forward.
06:59 And I think we're going to get a lot of stuff with his relationship, uh, with him
07:02 and Gwen as voiced by Haley Steinfeld.
07:04 So he, this is a perfect tease.
07:06 This is great tease.
07:07 This isn't like a full on trailer, just enough to sort of wet your whistle.
07:10 Let you guys know that in June of 2023, we're going to be heading back to the
07:14 Spider-Verse for Spider-Man across the Spider-Verse.
07:17 And of course, as we now know, uh, Phil Lord and Chris Miller have already
07:20 announced the fact that this is part two of a three part trilogy, essentially,
07:26 or essentially they're going to have two more Spider-Verse movies coming.
07:28 The third one is called Beyond the Spider-Verse.
07:31 I'm still holding out hope in my heart that that means by
07:34 going beyond the Spider-Verse.
07:36 They're going to figure out a way to sort of blend animation with live action.
07:39 I think that would be really cool.
07:41 Uh, one thing I did not see in this teaser, although I'm sure people will
07:44 scrub through scene by scene to see if Tom Holland's Spider-Man shows up
07:48 anywhere in here, uh, do we see MCU Spidey in there or maybe even a Toby or an Andrew?
07:52 Uh, that would be pretty fascinating to see if somebody can find that.
07:55 If you see it, let me know in the comments down below of where I need to go see it.
07:58 Um, I love this.
07:59 I think this was perfect.
08:00 This was exactly what I was looking for out of this trailer.
08:02 Didn't give away too much, showed me better looks at some of the things I knew
08:05 was going to be in this movie coming up.
08:08 And now we have a long way to go until June of 2023 gets here.
08:11 So thank you, Spider-Fans for watching and keep it right here on CinemaBlend.
08:16 (gentle music)
08:18 you
