00:00 around him, getting out the pocket and we don't want him to be a pocket passer.
00:03 And I told him, I said, if I'm a linebacker, I'm a defensive coordinator,
00:06 I'm playing you the whole week, I'm saying, keep Dee Davis in the pocket.
00:09 So we want him, if he's not there, get moving.
00:12 So that's what we're working on.
00:13 I mean, we can see what he can do as a runner.
00:15 And so if it gets uncomfortable back there, 1,000, 1,000, two less now.
00:18 And so that's what he has to do.
00:19 But he's learning and maturing as a quarterback.
00:23 Hopefully he got out of this thing healthy so
00:24 we can get back to work to play Miles next week.
00:27 But I think his best football is still ahead of him.
00:30 He's getting better each week and that's what we're gonna see.
00:32 >> So what was your own message at half time?
00:34 It was a huge difference with the physicality of the defense.
00:36 So what did you tell him to kind of get the play in mind?
00:39 >> Yeah, I mean, Dooley has a great game plan.
00:40 I mean, in blood, he did a great job for you.
00:43 He's a fourth year, fifth year guy.
00:44 And so, hats on out, he was a little bit in the first half.
00:47 So the guys just had to settle down.
00:49 It's a lot of communication first time, young guys playing.
00:51 They suck in tempo, all that type stuff.
00:54 So he said, hey man, let the offense get us going in the third quarter.
00:56 And after that, just settle down and play football.
00:58 The pass rush got a little better for us.
01:00 And I think we have about eight to ten guys that we play on that D line.
01:03 So I think our model was let's try to wear them down.
01:06 So I think all those guys get no record goals, those reps on the hard play.
01:09 You got one offensive lineman on 70 plays and he's seen two, three different guys.
01:13 So I think that part of it was big for us for the end of the game.
01:17 >> Coach, many of you drives the second half started in Southern territory.
01:24 Talk a little bit about that, working on a short field.
01:27 But also, coach, you had five situations where you were in the red zone,
01:32 didn't come away with points.
01:35 How do you address that going forward?
01:37 >> Yeah, that's the part that we gotta get better at.
01:40 I think this year was cut down on penalties, cut down on turnovers,
01:43 winning the red zone.
01:44 Missed a couple field goals that we thought we could have made, but hey,
01:47 that's part of it.
01:48 But now we gotta just settle down and we have to be better in the red zone.
01:51 So that's the part we gotta correct.
01:53 You won the battle of the thousand on the first game, but
01:56 everything's not gonna be like you like it.
01:58 That's a good defense.
01:59 That was a Swag West Championship team and
02:01 they have a great chance of making it back to the title again.
02:04 So we have to realize we're playing good defense.
02:06 But for us, we have to execute better in the red zone.
02:09 Whether it's touchdown or field goal, we gotta end with a kick.
02:12 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:14 All right, appreciate y'all guys hanging around, man.
02:17 So that's all right, let the young guys get in.
