00:00 Hospital on Wheels is now being held in different parts of the country.
00:03 We know that.
00:04 Let's go back to Dr. Jim Sanchez, the founder and head of Hospital on Wheels.
00:08 Good morning, Doc.
00:09 Welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:11 This is Fifi together with Chi.
00:13 Yeah, good morning, Chi and Fifi.
00:16 Good morning to the viewers of Rise and Shine.
00:20 Okay, good morning, Doc.
00:22 How long have you been doing this medical surgical mission with Hospital on Wheels?
00:27 And how did you come up with this great idea, Doc?
00:30 Well, this started in 2007.
00:35 It's Hospital on Wheels.
00:37 The purpose of this is to bring the hospital to the community.
00:41 Instead of the patients being taken to the hospital,
00:44 we will bring the hospital to the Philippines, even if it's far away.
00:49 Wow.
00:50 Doc, what are the diseases or conditions that you can treat here at Hospital on Wheels?
00:56 What are the cases that you usually bring here?
00:59 Okay, the first one is the surgical component.
01:04 Because that's the problem.
01:06 There are not enough surgeons, anesthesiologists, instruments, equipment.
01:13 So, the most common cases are tumors, tumors, let's see, skin cancers.
01:21 You can see tumors from head to toe, from head to toe.
01:26 And congenital deformities like bruises or cleft lips.
01:32 Whether it was done or the patient is not satisfactory, we do it again.
01:38 And there are also many cases of bruises on the feet, on the knees, and many other conditions.
01:46 Now, the medical, dental, and eye component, we just add those.
01:53 Okay, Doc, this is Chipoy.
01:55 This program is very good and it will help many of our countrymen.
01:59 But I'm sure many people are asking, is this free, Doc?
02:02 And are there any requirements that need to be met before you can receive treatment or get an operation?
02:07 And how and where will they come, Sir?
02:10 Okay, this is free.
02:12 Free, 100%.
02:14 And how, you can just look at our website and Facebook page, Hospital on Wheels.
02:24 So, you can see the schedule of the missions.
02:27 Like today, September 10, we are there at Padre Pio Shrine in Santo Tomas, Batangas.
02:38 So, that's September 10.
02:40 And on September 16, we are there at Rotary Center in Roses Corner, Mother Ignacia.
02:50 And on September 17, we are there at Mandaluyong.
02:56 So, you can see that on our site.
02:58 Okay, Doc, so far, is there only one Hospital on Wheels? Or are there a few?
03:05 There's only one, but our mission is to do it 2-3 times a month because we can't do it if there's a lot of patients.
03:12 The limitation is, number one, the volunteers, the surgeons, of course, they also work on regular basis.
03:21 So, we only go there on weekends.
03:24 Second, of course, there's a cost.
03:27 So, if we don't have donors who help us, we can't do it.
03:33 So, we have to ask for help from our partners.
03:36 Doc, we understand that you have a series of places to go, but we want to know, where are the places that you've been to with your missions?
03:45 We heard that you will continue to go there.
03:49 Tell us more, Doc.
03:51 The most we've been to is Luzon.
03:54 We've been to a lot of places in Luzon.
03:56 Even if you tell us, because we have more than 300 missions.
04:02 We've also reached Cebu, like in Carcar.
04:06 We've reached Mindanao, Jensan, Marawi, we've also been to the Middle East.
04:12 Before, during the war, we've been to the Middle East.
04:16 The most far away we've been to is Machil. This year, we've been to Maasin, Leyte, Sambuanga, Bicol, Mindoro, Sambanes.
04:30 Those are the farthest places.
04:32 Alright.
04:33 Doc, can you give us a message for our RRSP?
04:37 Just look at our Facebook page, Hospital on Wheels.
04:43 This is the most we've been doing, the surgical missions.
04:48 Bukol, from head to toe, you'll see the wounds.
04:53 There are also small and old wounds.
04:56 And there are also bruises, and cleft lips.
05:00 Whether it's already done or not.
05:03 So that's our help to our fellow Filipinos and to our country.
05:07 Thank you very much for your love and prayers.
05:12 I hope this continues and there are more, Doc.
05:14 We're doing this because we need these kinds of services, especially in marginalized areas.
05:24 This is a big help to our countrymen.
05:27 We're already in Malolos.
05:30 I hope you'll go to Manila.
05:33 Yes, we'll go to Manila.
05:36 I always go to Malolos.
05:38 It's an underserved area.
05:42 Our hospitals are full of people.
05:45 So we're helping.
05:47 Alright, thank you very much for sharing your advocacy, Dr. Gene Sanchez.
05:52 And I hope you can help more of our countrymen.
05:55 Again, thank you, Doc, and more power.
05:57 Thank you very much, RRSP.
