00:00 You alright? Yeah, I'm good pal.
00:02 Phew!
00:04 Paul, it looked like you were having a good word with Jordan Pickford right at the end there.
00:23 What were you saying to him? Is it repeatable?
00:25 Yeah, I wondered if he had actually saved that and it's an unreal save.
00:28 And then I think the second one, he doesn't know too much about it, it hits his head and it's the post.
00:32 So yeah, big moment and it's another example of why we love the game and how fine the margins are.
00:39 Yeah, and we're not stupid. We know we're going to need a lot of those moments to go in our favour this season.
00:45 Of course we are. Today it didn't, but I can't grumble. I think it was a real good game and probably a fair result.
00:51 Cameron Archer got a first Premier League start. How pleased are you with his impact today?
00:55 Yeah, delighted. Yeah, there's lots of things about Cam that I like.
01:00 First and foremost, what people expect and what they know about him, and especially when you speak to him, is he wants to score goals.
01:06 That's what he enjoys. But he also works hard physically. He's very good and we'll improve that area of him as well
01:11 to get that, to use that physicality when we've not got the ball and get him in the best areas when we have got the ball.
01:17 So yeah, we're pleased to have him. Couldn't have had a better debut really.
01:22 So yeah, he's off the mark, he's up and running, he looks fit.
01:26 And like I say, that's the most minutes he's played as well, so he's going to get stronger.
01:30 And you mentioned the topsy-turvy nature of the game. Luke Thomas, I think it was his first touch.
01:35 He could have scored with his first touch.
01:38 Yeah, that'll be the challenge for him. We spoke a lot to him, but only speaking, because we've not had much time to work with him
01:44 about what we'd expect from someone in that position. So I want to work a hell of a lot on his defending
01:48 and really push him in those moments. But we also expect goals and assists from our wide players, our wing-backs.
01:53 And yeah, to see him in that position is great. To see his contact on the ball, great.
01:58 But it was some good defending from Everton that obviously robbed him of an unbelievable first touch.
02:03 No Tom Davies today, he's not in the matchday squad. Is he still quite a bit off in terms of match sharpness?
02:09 Yeah, just his body adapted to the training. Like I say, he's not played for a long, long time, but not trained with anyone.
02:15 So when he came in, he's had two weeks with us now, and that's his only football in and around people.
02:20 So he's fit enough in terms of his lungs, his endurance, but also adjusting his body back to training,
02:27 the rigours of football. So this international break, these two weeks will be good for him.
02:32 On that point, Paul, the international break, you've got a 16-day break now before thoughts turn to the next Premier League fixture.
02:38 Coming off the back of a point, is that a help? Is it a hindrance? You've got a chance, obviously, to work with players that you can work with.
02:44 Well, a lot. This is the thing, everyone always speaks about getting a chance to work with players you don't.
02:49 We get all our players back on the Friday before we play Spurs, so we have one day to work with this team.
02:54 But what we do have is that two weeks to work with the likes of Tom, Maka's not had minutes, Luke's not had minutes, Cam's on a limit.
03:00 So all these players that we need to catch up because of when we sign them and their position at their clubs,
03:07 we'll use that two weeks to get everyone closer to where they need to be.
03:11 Thanks.
03:14 Thank you, sir.
03:16 Thanks.
03:17 Thanks.
03:18 Thanks.
