00:00 PTV Balita is now returning. Senator Francis Chiz Escudero is asking for reimbursement from the Bureau of Immigration for the travel expenses of more than 32,000 passengers
00:11 who were unable to travel after being offloaded from their flights last year due to the long process of questioning by immigration officers.
00:22 According to the senator, the passengers went through a long process before they were given visas, so the country should be given the responsibility of blaming their ability to travel.
00:34 Escudero also said that there is no proven or final decision that the offloaded passengers will be victims of prostitution or human trafficking.
00:43 The senator recommended the issue of special provision in the 2024 national budget that orders the agency to reimburse the expenses of the offloaded passengers.
00:54 Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri assured that the recommended provision for the deliberation of the agency's funds for the next year will be included.
01:06 The Senate's target is to pass the so-called "legislative wage hike" for all workers in the country before the year ends.
01:14 This is the promise of Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri that can be pushed even if it is not a priority by the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council or LEDAC.
01:24 According to the senator, the cost of living in the country has increased and workers' salaries need to be adjusted to have a decent livelihood.
01:33 Zubiri also added that the latest wage adjustment is only for workers in Metro Manila.
01:40 Workers' salaries in other parts of the country also need to be increased because the price of goods in the provinces is not different.
01:49 The 150-peso pay hike is being pushed for employees in the private sector while the minimum wage earner in the government is increased by 12,000.
